improving my times

i posted a while back about my times and how they were my first ever times and have been having a bit of trouble at the track.

previous my best was a 14.60 w/ a terrible 2.9 60' and 105 mph

today i tryed running w/ street tires and practicing my rt, and launch.. although there was a 20 mph headwind on the track? i dunno if this makes much of a diff but it was around 70 today and somewhat humid but i did a little better

1st run:
rt-1.29
60-2.34
1/8-9.05
1/4-13.6
mph-107

2nd run:
rt-.971
60-2.40
1/8-8.95
1/4-13.47
mph-106.6

i was on the gsc's and head them set at 20psi and trying to launch around 2000 rpms slippin the clutch some.

As you know, 100% of your problems are in your launch. 20 psi on radials is far too low. Bump the pressure up to 27ish. Also, while it will seem that you don't want to rev the motor more, try launching at 3000 or 3500 and slipping it from there. Launching a car at the track is a dance, you just gotta learn the steps. Practice, practice, practice.

alright i wasnt sure what the optimum psi for the tires was, thanks for clearing that up. im not quite sure if ill be able to launch at much higher rpm's, i end up prolly slipping the clutch till around 1900 and then letting it rip from there. im crossing the line at around 6800 rpms in 3rd gear... im running 3.42 gears and im considering going w/ nittos bfg's but not quite sure about what gears to get? say i was getting a .671 reaction time and 1.9 60' what times do u think i would be able to accomplish?

Stickier tires will definitely help, but your reaction time wont make any difference to your ET. Your time doest start until you break the beams.

I would say assuming everything else went perfect with good weather on a 1.9 60', I could see anywhere from 12.7 -13.0. Good luck with the launch and keep us posted!
