Really fked up night at the track?!?

Well my car seemed to be running like **** today and I could not hook up on our damn excuse for a track. I think my car running like **** had to do with waiting in line for 45minutes to finally get to the staging lanes! My temperature was at 170, but it seemed to be heat soaked from the 45 minutes of waiting while the car was on non stop. The humidiy was 60% which is rare for here in the desert and for our 3800ft elevation. I know something was wrong with the timeslips for sure as well...check this out.

I ran a 14.4 @ 91MPH? WTF is that buisness! I was comparing to other people at the track and ls1's were clocking high 14's at 92mph?!? I think that for the first night of timeslips they have some major issues to work out.

What tire pressure you all reccomend for street tires too? I was running 32LBS and couldnt hook worth a damn.

Well I have heard from other cars at the track and their was definatly a problem with the new timing system. It seemed that the MPH was off on most cars by 10MPH and that the timing was a little off by a few .1's.

your never gonna hook on 32psi

it kind depends on the tires. I used to run 25psi in my 16in RSA's, it was good for 2.1's on ok tracks with the M6

The reason for keeping the tire pressure at 32lbs is because the MAX tire pressure for these tires is 51LBS, so i take it that the pressure for the track should be higher also?!? I drive on them at 39LBS, is that oo much even though the max tire pressure is 51??

The "MAX" pressure marked on the side of the tire has little if any relation to reality. That is the pressure you would have to use to achieve the maximum weight rating at the maximum speed rating. Since the weight of the 4th Gen is probably quite a bit under the tire's rated capacity, and you aren't running anywhere near the max speed rating, the 51PSI on the side of the tire is irrelevant.

For street driving, follow the pressures recommended on the tag on the door, or glove box... probably 30 or 32PSI. For extended high speed driving or extreme cornering loads, go up to 36PSI (that info should be on the door tag too, if your car came with Z-rated tires). For drag racing, drop down well below 32PSI. Hard to give you an exact number... you have to try different pressures, but 32PSI sounds too high.
