From my understanding, a stock transmission with stock frame and floorboards, does not need a transmission shield or blanket. I would definitely obtain a copy of the NHRA and/or IHRA rulebooks before spending all of your money. In NHRA the ET break for a rollbar is 11.99, in IHRA it is 11.49. You will need a driveshaft loop as well.

I have a transmission blanket on mine after it exploded last fall. I learned my lesson. Even though it is not required at my ET I was very "lucky" not to lose my foot.

I also installed a six point welded bar long before I hit 11's. I just don't want a problem if some dragster comes up my butt at the big end of the track or I get a flat tire or hit a seagull or something. Also, the welded bar stiffened the car up quite a bit so I didn't have to install subframe connectors.

Be smart and be safe. Have fun modifying your vehicle.
