Post Question about slicks

I was wondering what the thick white stripe you see on some big slicks is for. my guess was for video tape and seeing tire spin better. can anyone answer this?

you put the mark on the rim and the tire to see if the tire is spinning on the rim

Mainly it's to see if there's any tire spin when launching. If the tire is screwed to the rim it won't slip anyway.

IT ALSO CHECKS FOR SLOP IN SOME OF THEIR REAR DIFFS. IF THEY PAINT ONE STRIPE ON THE BOTTOM OF EACH TIRE. when they get to the end of the track both stripes left and right should be lined up. some of them use spools and locked rear gears.usually for tire slippage they make the marks smaller by the valve stem.
