Quest for 11's with current set up?

02 SOM SS A4 HT:
The car came with the 345HP pkg, and therefore has the SLP Dual Dual catback. Gears are 3.23's

Mods:
!FRA/TransGo/bellow/D-Flo/K&N/Bassani ORY/cutout/TR55

Weight reduction:
No spare or jack/no sway bar

I weigh 240 so add this to a typical SS for raceweight.

Dyno:
337/357 cutout open.

Best ET: 12/21/02...60 deg...DA+1800 Tulsa International Raceway

60'........1.9225
330'.......5.3720
1/8........8.1744
1/8 MPH....87.53
1000.......10.5682
1/4........12.6251
1/4 MPH....110.02

This was done with...skinnies/short belt/BFG DR..however I've cut 1.92 60's on F1's as well.

Point:
I have been offered an oppertunity to try a fresh Yank PT4400 and some Hoosier slicks in an attempt for hopefully 11.9's in this current setup.

How would this rank as far as some of the other 11 sec A4's with the relatively obvious lack of mods and weight reduction?

11.9's:
above mentioned weight reduction only/full leather interior including back seats/no headers or customizing of stock manifolds/no underdrive pulley's/no programming of any kind including HPP3/no MAF or mod inc. descreening/no TB or mod inc. port-polish or bypass/no removal of the catback

Yell me what you think...

well buddy, it looks like youve got your SS running pretty good there. the stall is a good idea but i just dont see it taking almost .7 off. honestly, with slicks, VERY good track prep., and maybe on the break of snow , you MIGHT snag an 11.999999. those 3.23s wont be helping the situation though. with a good set of 3.73/4.10s you would be solid 11s all day. you should be good for very low 12s with just the stall.

BTW, just curious, what does "try out" a stall mean?

COMNBYU: First let me start by saying I like your call name.

I am hopeful of pulling off an 11.99999 in any weather...I have gotten an ok from a friend who owns the race track in Tulsa to make my attempt at it at any time. He will take care of the hook for me. I think that is awefully cool of him btw.

I really don't care if it's flurrying when I do it...Tulsa is over 600ft elevation, and awesome air is a DA of like 200 here. I see alot of peoples best's coming from DA's of like -1200 and stuff, so I'll take the coldest air I can get.

The 3.23's may not be perfect for the sweet spot, but I've seen alot of cars with them still out back running 11's. I hope it helps the verter hit a little harder all the way down. I'll need it.

"Trying out a converter" means...I may not want to run one all the time. I may just want to see if this paticular goal is obtainable first. I have a friend who has his PT4400 at Yank right now being freshened up, who has offered it and his Hoosier slicks to try for a little bit. I can't pass it up. If it goes 11.99999, I'll probably take it out and go for 12.0's w/o a verter, but if it doesn't make it, I'll probably buy my own so I can keep trying and tweeking.

Thanks for the reply,
Kurt

SOM,
Take a look at my sig. I have almost an identical setup to yours except for 2 things. I have a ST3500 Yank and mine is a 2000 with a little less HP than your 02.
The converter/tires could easily knock .7 off of your Ets.
Before the Bassani ORY, SSRA, converter, and ET streets my very best was 12.96 @ 107. Now I'm knocking on the 11 second door. And my weight reduction is the same too: spare, jack, and front sway bar.
The runs were made with all of the belts on and with stock front tires at Stanton MI elev. ~700ft. Temp 45°, baro 30.3, and 55% humidity.

You CAN do it.

Al: Awesome times man...You got a 12.15 w/315 rwhp....thats awesome....for sure. Your car picked up quite a bit with the other mods you did as well as the verter, you got 8 or so tenths from the SSRA/Y-pipe/verter/slicks......I'm hoping for 7 tenths w.o the other items, but also with a little more HP. I hope it happens.

Kurt

Drew: I'll for sure keep you all posted. Thanks for the vote of confidence.

Kurt - With the converter and the slicks a .7 reduction is almost in the bag.. I reduced my time about that when I went to the converter and slicks. Just need to get the pressure set up correctly on the slicks might take a few runs to see where it will hook the best at.

Call me, like to see the attempt.

Thanks Ken...
I just wanted to tell you that your car inspires us fellow F-Body owners to try a little harder.

I will holler when I try it.

Oh Yeah!!! I need to bring my Stang freind up to see that car, he doesnt think our F-bods can be made to go very fast (even though I beat him and I'm N/A running mid 12s and he's on the bottle running a high 12)
