Powershifting

I would really like to try to powershift my car. Its a 69 Camaro, with a warmed over 355 and a Muncie 4-speed. Can you guys advise me on the basics and any tricks. Is there a safe way to try it with less of a risk of blowing my engine to pieces?

well i wouldnt suggest it unless you know how to drive tgo begin with..

the concept: never letting off the gas, just spiking your foot into the clutch pedal and shifting while never getting off the throttle. theres really no tricks but be aware that its adding stress to your tranny and it puts you at a greater risk of a massive mechanical failure haha

good luck!

oo btw, try powershifting into like 4th for your first time. you have more time to get ready in your head compared to powershifting 2nd on a launch when theres alot to be thinking about.

Thanks, I ran a mid 12 in it granny shifting, so Im interested to see how much this will help. Ill practice 1st-4th like you said, practice through all of the gears a few times and then give it a shot. Either that or Ill go testdrive a car at the dealer and try it...JOKE! THANKS

Pre-loading the next forward gear is the key, find the threshold and your on your way.

Is this a m-21 or m-22 gear box?

Powershifting works wonders...

until you miss a shift. One miss shift could reward you with a gearbox full of creamed transmission gears. Ask me how i know.

when u power shift u mainly want to do it on every even gear, etc 1st-2nd then 3rd-4th. never do it up, to much risk of u trying to speed it up and dropping it back to 1st. just granny shift it. lol.
