Lots of torque, good traction, good chassis setup, good weight transfer or very little weight on the front.

Well, I am not so sure that wheelies (at least big ones) are a sign of good chassis setup. Watch the way the winners in professional events (NHRA or IHRA) launch. You can see that a lot of weight transfers, but the front wheels stay pretty much on the ground except maybe a couple of inches for the first 20-30 feet (depending on the class).

But they're still cool and still fun even though chances of winning a shoe polish race doing them is gretly reduced and it does screw with your R/T as well.

It's always fun to watch Super Stock cars launch but yes, watch a Super Gas or even a Pro Stock car launch. Of course they still use wheelie bars but the front tires hardly come off the ground. They want all the energy to push them forward, not up.

Re: Poppin Wheelies

suspension and weight reduction with some long tubes alone can get a tire up. throw in a cam and some tuning and both tires will come up. add a 150 shot on top of all this and they will come up real good (speaking from experience). but like the others said, i went faster after tuning the suspension to keep the car on the ground. but it is cool to get some good pics of your car with the front tires off the ground.

Getting up off the two fronts is the same as hangin 10 on a board off the North coast of Oahu.

It is an undeniable proof of power and application.

My tires just spin and spin and spin.
