Open headers

While not a new member, I'm new to this board so please excuse the "dumb" question. Is there any advantage to running open headers on my set-up? '94 z28, Hooker shorties, A4 w/ Vig tc (2800 stall) and Transgo kit, LT4 Hot cam package, 3.73 gears, LT 4KM, MSD 6A ignition and coil, and numerous suspension mods. I have an aftermarket cat convert w/ borla cat-back (no plate). Thanks for the help!!

The noisiest cars at the track are the slowest ones and the Junior Dragsters. They all seem to run open headers. Even I run mufflers. They're a straight flow through bullet muffler to reduce the noise but they're still mufflers.

Well from my expirience a few weeks ago on the street and the track, I lost time both places because I spun more through 1st and 2nd. Best time with the exhaust open was a 9.4x, capped it was 9.2 but still had traction problems. The car wanted to get sideways in second each time with it open.
