oddball track question...
if all safety requirements are met, can you have a camera man/passenger during a run down the track? just dont know if there is a universal rule or per track
There is an ET cutoff I believe. I know on street nights at new England Dragway they allow "co-drivers" but I think you are limited to about 12 seconds or something. The best thing is to check with your local track. Also, track rentals or private events may have different rules.
NHRA 2007 Rulebook, Section 16, General Regulations, Rule 10.9 Occupants. No more than one person is permitted in any car during any run, except one co-driver permitted in 14-second and slower ET cars. (end quote)
However a local track may not allow a co-driver, even though it is in the rulebook. Co-driver???? Does that mean you can't just sit there and ride, you must assist with the driving??? Hey man, don't forget that 2nd and 3rd gear shift! Or, do something quick man, the car in the other lane is getting ready to wax you!

Our local track allows a passenger during test & tune and they're limited to a 14 second and slower run. In the spring when we have a media day, fast cars with a passenger seat can give the media a ride. Launching a 9 second car and running it to the 1/8 mile or less gives the passenger a real thrill and you can slow down enough to stay under the 14 second rule.
As with other rules in the book, tracks may not allow it because of insurance regulations.

We do Ride for Life and haul people but we can only go for and eighth mile and then shut down to stay under the 14 second rule. Out track has allowed riders for test and tune nights as long as they stay under the 14 second rule.

oh well, i figured it was worth asking. i seen many cars with a fixed mounted camera, but one run with differant angles would be cool. would cost a fortune to mount several cameras or come up with a swivel base. to track the other car, your speedo, and driver errors.
