new track times

Well, finally things are really coming together for my combo. Since I dont have my 12 bolt in the car yet, the ET has not been a concern of mine yet....just mph. I was running on 16" nitto DRs which dont do a whole lot for traction.

The DA was ~+550' today which is about the best I have ever seen it at our track. Actual elevation of the track is 1100'. The car is not fine tuned either...never has had any dyno tuning or any real street tuning....just a PCM program that I got from Mark Montalvo.

396, solid roller, AFR heads, 6spd, etc...

Temp 51*
Humidity 80%

60' 1.91
1/8 7.65@98.43mph
1/4 11.61@125.75 *naturally aspriated*

Like I said, I only really was concerned with mph. My goal for this motor was 125-126mph at our track here.

Looks like 10s NA are very possible with traction/12 bolt. I am going to put new valvesprings in the motor this winter, and may do a little more headwork. Probably wont re-cam since I really like the driveability of the car (about like a HOT cam in a stock motor).

All I can say is Mark Montalvo is the man with head/cam combos

Next year....fogger time!

Damn it all Short - those are impressive NA times. My porky car with blower doesn't trap too much better! I'm sorry I couldn't go today, I'll bet I could've trapped near 140mph with the nitrous. My friends Jerry and Cheryl had their 5.0 Mustang out. It's a mild motor with an S-trim and they trapped >130mph, 3mph over their previous best.

Are you thinking of the LS1/LT1 shootout next year? If that goes off and I'm invited, I'll be there for sure. Maybe I'll spectate ven if I don't run. We could represent WNY well

Congratulations on reaching your goal. You can have my 16" ET Streets once I get the 15" with 28" tires and then we'll see some impressive ET's!

Thanks guys

Rich, yeah you missed a great day. I talked to Joe a little....dont think he got into the 9s today again, but I saw him go 10.01@139. Sick car forsure. Yeah, just let me know on the ET streets, I am going to need them for my new rear setup.

Darren, thanks man Actually I had some 16" SLP take off rims up front today weighing in at 44lbs each Next year with a good launch, fine tuning, new valvesprings, skinnies, and mabye a little porting I am hoping for ~10.8@128-130 NA.

Rich, yeah that LT1/LS1 deal would be cool except that all things being equal, the LS1 is a better/faster motor....dont really see how the comparison is fair on that one. ??? It would all come down to driver IMO which is not a real fair comparo. I would go spectate though if you were looking for someone to drive down/ride with On top of that, I guarentee that my car would be above the lame 94dB rule....kinda funny how Etown was there before alot of that residential stuff was there, yet homeowners there seem to be calling the shots. ??? mabye I missed something.

Jason: I think if I cap my Borla I will lose a few hp but be OK dB wise. Before trekking up there I will do some sound measurements to be sure. I think there's no way for all things to be truly equal, so it might still be interesting. For example, I am hoping to be the only dual power adder car there. If you were to run in the 10's, as expected, I can't see you not being competitive with LS1 cam/heads cars. And of course, if you spray it the head advantage of the LS1 is negated. I say that we LT1 guys have shot!

There is a thread in the LT1 tech forum about it.

Yeah it would be pretty cool to go down there and try it. I am selling the 4" on my car now and putting a borla back on, so we'll see on the sound issue.

Now if only I could figure out if it would be benifitial (geometry wise) to run 1.7s on the intake side....I may try that this winter as I have decided that I am forsure not going to re-cam. That would bring the intake lift up to .699". I have been talking to Phil Tobin about it some, and think that I may go ahead with it.
