New times in the '93
I went to the track today. It was a bad day.
The track was like an ice rink. I ran a best of 13.5 @ 105. My 60 ft was 2.2 with 275 Nitto drags, an automatic trans, and a stock converter. I even tried leaving at idle and it would spin as soon as any decent amount of throttle was applied. I was basically on and off the gas through the middle of 2nd gear.
Here is the breakdown:
60 ft: 2.21
1/8th et: 8.91
1/8th mph: 88.97
1/4 et: 13.57
1/4 mph: 105.14
My car also seem to fall on it's face a little when it shifts into 3rd gear. 1st and 2nd feel great. Maybe that is just how it goes with an automatic and the stock converter.
Another thing making my scratch my head is my 1/8th mph. I think 89 mph usually equals 107-108???? Either way I think if I can get to the track on a stickier day, and get a 1.9 60 foot, I should get down around a 13.0?
Am I on the right track?

The car is normally pretty easy to launch. On the street, and my last outing to the track, I can floor it and go. No wheelspin at all.
A lot of people were complaining about the track prep today. Is it actually the track prep, or does the sun beating down on the starting line have more to do with it? Last time there I was getting 2.0 60 ft's on crap 235/50/16 radials. But the weather was around 70-75 degrees instead of 85 degrees.

I hear Stanton hooks like a mad fisherman. It is pretty far for me though. I think i'll head up to Ubly when we get a fairly cool weekend, or when I get a converter.
105 mph should get me into the 12's, but probably not with a stock converter. If the 60 foot rule of thumb is accurate, I should be able to get it down to a 12.9-13.0 if I can 60 foot 1.9's.

In 2000 when the car was lid/Loudmouth I went 12.96 on a 1.93 60' but it was in the real cool, ok cold, fall MI air on a stock converter.
The car is not lightened up at all. It has the basic cloth interior, power windows, etc... I did take out the spare tire. What I don't like is that it feels pretty strong in the 1/8th mile, but feels like it lays down a bit when it shifts into 3rd.
I was racing a nice built up LS1 GTO and I stopped pulling once I hit 3rd too.
Al, what were you trapping when you ran that 12.9? I think I might be able to get up to 106 if I don't have to deal with rediculous traction for 2 gears. But then on other cars I have actually dropped a couple mph when I ran slicks and dead hooked.
