Our good board sponsors at HPE took Rick Intrau's Formula down to Commerce. Rained out Friday and there hasnt been any track prep, but Rick still got an 8.21@174MPH on 15PSI!!! 7s are comming for the LT1 boys!

Absolutely sick. LT1s need to go faster and faster to show what we can do with the lack of support that we receive with our motors over regular SBCs and LSx types.

Holy crap only 15psi? That must be the ~900rwhp tune. Didn't that car run 22-23psi on the 1250rwhp pull? They must've gotten some more of the bugs out of the car since he gained about 7mph from last year.

I project that car running mid 7s at close to 185 by the end of the season, pending the engine holding together. I would've never imagined an LTx block holding up to that kind of power.

This pass is on a new motor with better heads, last seasons motor was a 399 cube with old set of AFR 220s. It was the same motor Rick went 9.4@149 on in his old Nitrous/carb set up. How ever this season it has better heads and a new short block built for boost. The 1238 pull was on the old motor with a larger turbo than the 91.5mm. At Thunder it went 8.35 on a 91.5mm on 22 psi, 988rwhp. Its not my car, I'm just friends with Rick and Chuck, so if they want to post more info on the set up, they will. But any case when the old motor let go it was due to bearings, not the block breaking. Prety amazing for ome thing that has seen .040 over and clearanced for a large stroke crank. The guys at HPE know what their doing, though they may be a new shop on the block, I think they have done a damn good job of hiring the right staff and proving countless times they can play with the big boys. Its also bad *** when your shop manager and owner are two hard core LT1 guys. So they dont treat us like crap when we go in, lot of shops treat LT1 owners like they are paying in government food stamps and not real money like LS1 owners.

I hope they chime in here about the new engine. I figured since they were running so many rpm they'd stick to a smaller displacement engine like a 383 or even a 355 since less cylinder wall is removed and the smaller stroke crank could potentially mean more strength. Turn the boost up some more to make up for the lost cubes. But they could have found these things to not be an issue... which is why i'd like to hear from them I'm still in shock that the LTx block is withstanding this much power.

Amazing video, I'm sure the LT1's will get a little more respect now after that run.

I heard the car has ran an 8.08 at 172 tonight at HRP, and with more passes to come.

I was out there last night at HRP, this weekend is fun ford. 7s should be here soon in the next few weeks. Cars running straight and hooking sick, now just gotta turn the boost up, that 8.08 was still on baby boost All in all last night was terrible weather, most cars were running .25 off their normal ETs and 2MPH off their normal traps. This car has 7s in it
