Need Converter Suggestions

Going to buy a new torque converter (My current one is way to tight). Need your suggestions and examples of performance and daily driving manners. What 60 foots have you gotten (what are your mods) and tell me what kind of rpm range under normal acceleration when driving around town.

1996 Formula WS6. It has the following mods. LT-4 Hot Cam, stock heads, 3.73 gears, nitto drag radials and the basic bolt-ons. Dyno numbers at the wheels 302 ft/lbs of torque at 3,400 and 293 hp at 6,000. The cars weigths 3,650 lbs with me in it.

I would like car to 60 foot in the low 1.7 range. Here are some suggestions that I have already received:

Yank ST3500 or SS3600
TCI Super Street fighter 3500
ProTorque 3200

Thanks for you help.

Please look at the other thread on this that I started. I have also learned a lot from talking to the folks who make converters and ended up deciding on Coan, partly based on Carl Rossler's advice. They really know these thiings. However, they make only race (non lock-up) converters, which is probably not what you want.

Good luck.

Decided to go with a PTC. They have a 3,500 stall lockup 10 inch converter with a lot of billet parts. Two reasons that I picked this over the more widely used brands in the F-Body community. 1) My father uses one of their 6,000 stall converters in his race car and they have been great to work with in getting the setup just right. 2) The price was half that of the Yank with similar results in customer vehicles.

I'll keep everyone posted on the results after I attend the NMCA race in Atlanta in Mid March.

Hello 12's!! I hope.
