My first day out
My first day out
Today was my first time at the track, and it felt good to run it after all the work I put into it.I ran a 13.33@103mph,and my 60' time was 1.98.I think I can go a 13.2 or better if I had a little more practice .It was cold out so I didn't feel like tuning the car.Off the line my car would fishtail a little, and that is probabley why I'm not in the 13.2's or better. What kind of suspension mod would cure this problem. It could be alot of variables, and that is what I think is holding me back.I saw a stock 350Z run a 13.9 all day,now that is a ricer car I can respect.
Tires first, then try it again to what else, if anything needs to be added, removed, and or modified/changed. One change at a time is a good rule of thumb.
Tires should be first because literally that is where the rubber meets the road. Either Nitto's or BFG Drag Radials if you want to drive to the track and use them on the street, or ET Streets if you want separate rims and swap when you get to the track.
If you use drag radials, the most common tire pressures are between 15-20 pounds. I used to run mine between 17-18 for best results on my car.
Try and follow a vehicle with slicks and not vehicles with crappy street tires. Also, if the track isn't being treated there isn't much you can do no matter what you run. Many tracks do not treat on Street nights. If that is the case at your track, find out when they do track rentals. At my track they do track rentals on Friday afternoons before street night. I check to see what lane they are running in and get there real early and sometimes I can get a couple pf passes in that lane before the traction degrades too much and the lines get too long, then I am outa there.
