Re: is my car just slow
Can anyone give me some ideas to check. Could it be my tune? Valves? Seems like a good 60 foot. So I don't think spinning is a factor. All I know is I just spent about 2000 for 3-4 tenths of a second. I know my tires are cheap dorals. But, I don't think that is the problem. I have coil air bladders. But not sure how they work

Sixty foot time is horrible. Your sixty foot times should ballpark around 1.8x-1.9x with traction and decent tires.
Is the car a stick or auto? ET can vary greatly in a manual based on driver shifting skills. I have witnessed a half second difference in ET between different drivers in the same car, on the same day, in the same air.
If your tires are not spinning you have a problem elsewhere... 102mph sounds on the low side since you have a cam and headers. My car would trap 100-101 before internal mods. I don't think disconnecting the knock sensor will help. I recall a lot of talk back in the day about doing that, or replacing with a slightly different knock sensor, however the bottom line is if there is no knock there is no problem.
I still suspect valve adjustment but have nothing but my own experience on which to base my hunch.

Re: is my car just slow
Are all these runs from a g tech? My old g tech was pretty accurate with the et but way off with the mph. Any codes? What is the fuel pressure? Lots of things to look into. 2.4 second 60ft? were you spinning or bogging? Don't worry most everyone here has had problems like this.

If the car is in fact down on power I would still check for codes, fuel pressure, valve lash. If you can make data logs and have your tuner look at them that could easily help find out whats wrong. Hope this helps.

Re: is my car just slow
Yes your 60ft times should definetely be 1.9-1.8 with some drag radials. My camaro before the rebuild was a stock lt1 with shorty headers going to a catless y-pipe to a borla catback. moroso CAI and 3:73's in the rear. I was running a constant 13.3 at 104 mph.
to me it sounds like you to get to a track and get some real numbers and then we can go from there.
IMO without atleast porting and polishing the heads you wasted your money just throwing a cam in it. these LT1 motors can make amazing power but from the factory their top end is so restrictive. To get into the 12's you need atleast that hotcam with ported heads, 1.6rr (that you already have), full exhaust (again which you have), some drag radials ( some rear suspension mods wouldn't hurt, lower control arms, torque arm, panhard bar).
Also since you have an auto get a stall converter (2800-3000) would be good for the street/strip and bring your times down.
hope this helps

Re: is my car just slow
I'm not running drag radials though. Just cheap street tires. Dorals I think. Anyway I put a lt4 knock module in it today and was running across the intake system when I noticed the Maf was resting itself on the coil wire. Moved it now the car is idling better and appears to be running better. Would this effect the Maf and or performance?
