Motor Plates

Anyone run one of these, specifically MadMan's?
How is this installed, bolt in or welded? Got pix?

Would this be better than going to solid motor mounts?

Re: Motor Plates

You have to weld some tabs to the frame to allow you to bolt the motorplate to the chassis.

Re: Motor Plates

Since these pictures were taken, I've changed from using 2 3/8" bolts to a single 1/2" bolt on each side for easier alignment and installation. I've also increased the tab size so that it can be welded to the top of the frame and on the inside of the inner fender.

You'll notice under the motor plate in the second picture a black tube that runs from the frame to the engine. That's a torque limiting rod. It keeps the engine from moving forward and backward because motor plates will flex. If the engine moves, the tranny moves. If the tranny moves, the tailshaft housing will usually break. There's a bracket to attach a rod end welded to the frame and on the other end is a plate on the rod that's bolted to the engine. I only use one torque limiting rod.
