Question Making this Camaro consistent

I dont know if anyone on here drag races or not but I have this 97 camaro that is hard to dial. Its up and down especially when the weather changes. I have a 160 thermo in this car and havent really changed anything else. Any ideas. I tried alot of stuff but cant get it right.

Once more question, someone told me that when I drive the car to the track and try to race it that its in a driving mode and that i need to unhook the PCM battery fuse and leave it unhooked for a mintue then hook it back in. They said that when I go and make a run down the dragstrip that by re-setting the PCM battery fuse that it will remember it for the next time. Anyone ever heard of this or do you think it might work and mess up the car.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me.

Before changing things, carefully examine your time slips forinconsistencies. Compare them to see where in the run you arelosing or gaining time. Then compare those slips to the weather for each run (just cloud cover or a humidity change can make a big difference).

Until you know what to change you are just shooting in the dark. You have already identified the problem, now you need to isolate and correct.

Ditto what Ted said ... watch what you run and when you run it. My car on the surface would appear to be very inconsistant ... but it is very consistant in the way it changes between the first runs and over the course of the nite ...

All I have to do is get my first run in and and I can pretty much dial in what I'll run for the rest of the nite at any given time ... but through out the nite there will be upwards of 2.5 tenths swing ... depending upon the weather, time of the runs and how deep in the eliminations I am ... M

Ill put it to you this way. If I was running a 60ft race then I would be unbeatable. It varies from 60ft to 330 and from 330ft to 1/8. Its where it picks up the weather. It does change with the weather but it still goes up and down when the weather stays the same it seems like anyhow. I do keep records of the temp and humidity. What else concerning weather will change it.

Also I have a fan switch where I can turn them on at anytime. I usually keep them going to hold the temp at thermo range which is 160. If I dont turn them on then the car will go all the way to 220 before the fans kick on. I leave my fan running while going down the track. Should I just reach down and cut it off before I leave the line.

Thanks for the replies guys.

1. Check the wind direction and force.

2. Are you staging exactly the same place. Do you run slower when you have a better RT? If this is the case then you staged a little deeper resulting in a better RT but worst ET.
