Lt's, cai, stall, slicks/ can i go mid 13's?
when i had cutout/cai i ran a best of 14.3@97 but i was spinning through 2nd gear. now i added a 3000 stall, pacesetter Lt's, and some et streets. how fast should i be? i have about 280-290hp so im guessing a 13.3-13.6@102? any tips on launching with the stall(1st time), and any burnout techniques for the et streets? thanks for any help
Re: Lt's, cai, stall, slicks/ can i go mid 13's?
depends on what brand converter you have. The vigilantes like to leave a little off idle, but some other brands like to be brought right up to the stall speed. W/the ET streets, go through the water box, do about a 5-7 second burnout and then continue burning them while rolling out of the box.
Edit: High 12s should definately be attainable.

Re: Lt's, cai, stall, slicks/ can i go mid 13's?
just got back from the track, i would say it was a pretty good night. best time was 13.54@98(1st run), and my best 60ft was 1.88(2nd run). i know my car has more in her, but i played with the tire pressure and i would spin going into 2nd gear. i tried stalling and flashing the converter and it worked better just stalling it. also tried doing different burnout techniques and i just got slower all night. i got two 13.5 and after pulling the filter and lowering tire pressure i ran 13.6-13.7@99. i would say my car is in pretty good shape for having the original opti. i know i could have gotten at least a 13.39, but i was changing everything around at the last minute. next up is gears, shift kit, rockers, pullies, and pcmforless tune, what do you guys think for this being the first time?
Re: Lt's, cai, stall, slicks/ can i go mid 13's?
when i did my burnouts i would catch a little bit of water on the fenders and it dripped on the tires a little. on the launch, i wouldnt spin them real bad just enough to where i would feel the rear get a little sideways, maybe like 2-3 rotations. on my second run i dead hooked stalling it to 2500, thats where i got my 1.88 60ft(BTW tires were at 12psi).
Re: Lt's, cai, stall, slicks/ can i go mid 13's?
Make sure you don't get any water on the tires and up the tire pressure. There is no reason you need to drop the tire pressure that low IMO. Up it to 18-20 psi and try it again. I bet you'll see an increase in trap speed.
Re: Lt's, cai, stall, slicks/ can i go mid 13's?
I wouldn't go more than 16 psi in the ets. Also, do wet your tires but don't back too far back into the standing water. Just start the burnout at the edge. That way, you will take it easy on your drivetrain, not sling water onto the fender wells and get a good contact patch. How long are you doing the burnout for? Are you spinning out of the water once you get them heated. I am not implying you don't know how to do a burnout, just checking your technique.
Re: Lt's, cai, stall, slicks/ can i go mid 13's?
It should hit 12s easily, my car stock manifolds, stock cat and on 17s ran 8.58 in the 1/8. Mods being the Vigi 3200, cold air and a cat back. 1.86 60 on Kuhmos.
Re: Lt's, cai, stall, slicks/ can i go mid 13's?
there were like three cars that messed up and one crashed so they had to clean it up fast(i went right after the clean up). another thing is i think my front tires are getting water on them thats why i spin a little after i get out of the hole. my burnout technique was a 7-10 second burnout in the waterbox then roll out past the lights then reverse and stage. that seemed to work a little(1.88 60 ft). then i would try to get at the edge of the box and get the tires spinning then rollout and quickly stage. i dont think i was actually getting to the edge because the tires would just keep spinning like nothing. but yeah i agree that dropping the air pressure as low as i did didnt work. i saw a lot of other cars in the lanes with 12psi and up and they were running under 13 seconds.
Re: Lt's, cai, stall, slicks/ can i go mid 13's?
with that kind of power, et streets shouldn't spin at all. 5 sec burnout. most of the time it's best to hold a 1k footbrake untill u see the green, then just let off the brake and lay into the gas all the way. if you do manage to get spin, do a 7 sec burnout or so, and try again. if still spinning, then go 3/4 throttle through the 60ft. u shouldn't have any problems though. many hotcam cars (or other cams in that power range) with 2800-3200 stalls run this technique with et streets and produce no spin with a wot launch. goodluck.
