LS1 A4 vs LT1 M6

I am getting ready to go to the track here in a couple of weeks, and I was just wondering how bad this outcome is going to be. I have the LT1, my friend has the LS1. I know that I am going to get beat, but I just don't want to get embarrassed...haha...and this is only going to be on an 1/8th mile track.

The LS1 has - Long tube headers, true duals, no cats, AC deleted, EGR delete, Lid, its an A4 with the stock 3.23 gears.

The LT1 has - a new centerforce clutch, CAI, deleted cat, Pro 5.0 shifter, and a flowmaster catback with 3.42 gears.

Both cars will be running street tires. I was just curious to see how close, if at all, you guys think it would be in the 1/8 mile.

Him- Full exhaust LS1 w/lid

You- Pretty much stock LT1

It's not gonna be pretty. Since he is an A4, he won't be missing any shifts.

I doubt it will be that far apart

LS1- Intake/Full Exhaust 3.23 A4
LT1-Intake/Exhaust 3.42 M6

If you're a really good driver you could keep it interesting

It's really gonna come down to who hooks the best

If I had to put money of it I'd say he beats you, but there isn't enough room for him to crush you

Why would you include the LS1's intake and exhaust in your breakdown and not include the intake and exhaust the LT1 has?

My prediction: assuming you both can drive, there are no traction issues at the track, and there are no other relevant differences (for example, your LT1 is an SS and his LS1 is a Z28, giving you the advantage of wider tires), he will run 8.3 and you will run 8.9.

It's a pretty sound beating. If you feel bad afterward, just find some stock Hondas to race.

My LT1 and his LT1 are pretty much the exact setup (except a4-m6). I consider mine pretty much stock as well. It's nothing against the car, but my car can't stay with a stock 01 SS, let alone a modded LS1.

I did say "pretty much" stock and it is just that. I also didn't include the LS1 true duals either. Just wasn't relevant at that point.

Either way, to the OP:

Have fun regardless. When we cruise I am surrounded by cars that are way faster than my LT1. I just sit back and wait for the time when I can afford to do more mods. Then it will be a different story.

If he has the stock torque converter it won't be too be in an 1/8 mile race, a car and a half to two cars. If he has an aftermarket stall then it could be really ugly.

You could do like I did to a buddy of mine. He had a big inch built LT1 M6 against my bone stock LS1 A4 with just over 600 miles on it. No way could I beat his car but we we're out to have fun. We staged up and I left on the first yellow and beat him to the finish line. We had a good laugh over that.

He is just running the stock stall converter right now. So it could be the difference of 1-2 cars in the 1/8th? Glad we aren't racing the quarter...hahaha

His LS1 is a 98 T/A

My LT1 is a 95 T/A

He'll put a few cars on your, somewhere between 2 and 5. That's assuming he know's has to roll out on street tires. I've driven a 2000 Formula with FTRA, CAI, filter, cutout, and !spare to a 12.85 in very good air.

I'm a little biased, but since my A4 LS1 stock, off the showroom floor, went a 13.20.

I've yet to see that out of an LT1 stock. Now you add headers, and a stall, 12's, tires, mid 12's, if not better, the car just responds to mods. This has just been my experience, maybe not the typical..
