Re: Lots of parts - How to launch?
moved LCAs to lower hole.
removed front sway bar.
Angles: SFC: -1/2
LCA: - 3
pinion: +2
The chasis shop that installed the extreme torque arm put one LCA in the upper hole and one in the lower. I put both in the lower holes. That is what caused the rear end of my car to swing out to the drivers side during a burnout.
Went to Quaker City Race track last night:
I use a launch rev-limiter to hold rpm. I depress the gas to half pedal as the lights come down. Dump the clutch and release the line-lock/rev-limiter. Go to full-throttle when the tires stop spinning. Then power shift.
1st run: 13.21 @ 105.49 1.996 front shocks: 1
rear shocks: 6c/6r
Tires: 19psi
launched at 2500 rpm - dumped clutch
2nd run: 13.41 @ 104.74 2.085 front shocks: 1
rear shocks: 6c/8r
Tires: 19psi
launched at 2500 rpm - pre-loaded chassis and dumped clutch
3rd run: 13.41 @ 104.15 2.060 front shocks: 1
rear shocks: 5c/5r
Tires: 13psi
launched at 2200 rpm - dumped clutch
The car feels as though it hooks for a fraction of a second the spins the tires for a second before hooking up. It also momentarily spins the tires during the 1-2 power shift.

If it is indeed hooking spinning then hooking you need to stiffen the comperssion dampening of the rear shocks not softening them as you did.
And drop the tire pressure 1 psi at a time not 6.
Crank the rears up to 7/7 and try 14 psi cold (which should get you around 15.5 hot).
If it still does the hook spin hook crank the shocks up another notch.
Re: Lots of parts - How to launch?
Sounds like your tires are not hooking very well and the rear is too soft. How old are the tires? Does this track prep any? Do most cars hookup there? Do you drive the tires on the street alot? This all makes a difference to find out whats going on. Later Clint
Re: Lots of parts - How to launch?
The tires are new as of this spring. I drive the car to the track and they have about 500-600 miles and 12-15 track passes.
I go to two different tracks. They both prep. Most street tired cars seem to not hook well but the bracket cars I watch with slicks all hook extremely well.
Quaker City has 4.90 sec 1/8 mile cars run on the 1st Fridays of every month and Nitro dragsters race a couple of times a year. It's an IHRA divisional track and well prepped. Much better than the other track I race on.
I ran last Wednesday and launched at 2200 with the tires at 18.5 psi warm. Front shocks were at 2 (out of 12). LCAs in the lower hole of the lowering brackets.
Rear shock settings (c/r)
(12/12) 2.025 8.62@83.9 13.27@105.6 slight bog with moderate tire spin
(16/16) 1.960 8.46@84.5 13.07@106.45 noticeable tire spin
(14/14) 1.973 8.48@84.08 13.13@105.15 noticeable tire spin
(18/18) 1.908 8.47@83.70 13.14@104.67 more spin than previous run but best 60' time
(20/20) 1.973 8.57@ 83.26 13.24@105.37 tons of spin in 1st, broke loose on the 1-2,
2-3, 3-4 shifts, headed towards wall on 2-3 shift and got out of the groove, granny shifted 3-4 and still got loose

I hit the 175 N2O shot using a window switch from 4100-6000 rpm. Dumped the clutch at 4000. 17 lbs of air pressure. Rear shocks at 12c 12r and front shocks at 2. Car hooked really well. Got 3 passes until I fried the clutch so I put in a new Spec Stage 3+ and flywheel. Got the clutch broken in just after the track closed for the winter so I didn't get to try it out.
Since then I added an all forged 355 with Lloyd Elliot LE2 LT4 heads and an LLoyd Elliot 3 cam. I deleted power steering and A/C and I added an electric water pump. I've added a Ford 9" with 35 spline axles and a Detroit Locker unit. I needed adjustable LCAs due to the 9" and I added air bags.
I spun the pilot bushing inside of the crank, I bought it used with supposedly 1000 miles on it, it may have been spun before I had it, but I really f'ed it up so I now have a TH-350 with a B&M Pro-Ratchet shifter.
Tonight is the first night at the track with the new engine and tranny.
I'll let you know how it all shakes out.
