Looking For People That Have Gone To Manual Brakes In A 4th Gen

I am curious what all is involved and if you have any pictures of the change. I see that Billingsley has a manual master available, but what about the ABS module. Does that whole thing get ripped out??

Any and all help is appreciated.

Everything gets ripped out ( abs, power booster, abs cpu, etc)and you'll need to redo the brake lines. There is one pic in my sig of the manual master cylinder.

I have a done this a couple of times.
When I first did my Firebird I used the factory master cylinder mounted to a 1/2" aluminum plate. I later switched to a early eighties S-10 master cylinder which takes less peddle pressure than the factory one.
On my Camaro I bought my whole master cylinder assemby from Pete-Z. It uses a mopar style master cylinder and works perfectly. It also includes a brace which goes to the back of the wheel well.
Both ways work fine. The S-10 route is cheaper, but the Pete-Z looks cooler. Either way, use a brace to stop the firewall from flexing.

Good Luck,

Daren

I too am interested in that set-up. As cheap as possible while still being reliable thats the name of the game. Afterall they only stop the car right

just curious, but what's the advantage of going to manual brakes? i know if you run a large cam with lots of overlap, you lose vaccum, but why not just put a vaccum booster on? Does this save a lot of weight? I always thought it was harder to stop with manual brakes. Please inform me, i'm trying to lay down a plan to completly re-do my car into a bitchen street/strip car.

This is a picture of the Pete-Z set-up on my 1999 Camaro C/SA. I will try to find Pete's phone number and post it.
As far as manual brakes go, you are using the same brakes, it just takes more human power to stop. My first car was a 1969 GTO with four wheel manual drum brakes. Now that was another story!!

Good Luck!!
