Launching w/IRS & 6 speed

Hey guys,
I just bought my first 'vette and plan on hitting the strip Saturday. Is there anyone with some good experience to lend me on this? Also, since I'm still learning the rules, am I going to get kicked out w/o a cage if I actually get a good launch off and into the 11's? If so I could always work on my 1/8th times and let up to get some practice in.

Not too sure about launching the vette, but if you get a 11.49 or faster, they can kick you out if you don't have a cage. It really depends on what track you go to, if it's a really nice track, they'll mostlikely kick you out. If it's a laid back track, they might just say that you could probably use a cage.

I guess I'll find out then. More info on the car: stock clutch and Michelin Pilot Sport 275/40/18's so not the best track tires at all. It's got the glass removable roof too if that is a factor at the track.

I have no experience with 'vettes at the track but if it were me I'd start with a quick release from about 2k rpm and work my way up.

Thanks, I'll start there and see what happens. The rain may mess things up for tomorrow though. If that doesn't work out it may be a while before I can get to the track unfortunately.

Sure enough, the rain messed things up. We had about a dozen cars drive up together only to sit in the rain. At least it'll give me a little more time to get used to the car before I get back up there.
