Launching a stock M6 on DRs

I am having a hell of a time launching my pretty much stock LT1 on Nitto Drag Radials. My best 60' so far is 2.03. I never have a problem with them spinning, it always seems to bog. Does anyone have an easy way to get my 60' lower. All I really want is 1.9's.

Re: Launching a stock M6 on DRs

I haven't tried launching an lt1 but my ls1 took a little getting used to. Because the lt1 has more bottom end torque, I think it would be a little more difficult. On the ls1, with the stock clutch and street tires (kuhmos) I was able to pull off some mid 1.8 60' times, by slipping the clutch out from 3500 rpms.

You really do need to get a feel for it to find out where the sweet spot is. Keep raising rpms til you start getting wheelspin, then you back off on the rpms a bit until you're comfortable. Be careful with that stock rear though. It really doesn't like to be shocked and it definitely doesn't like wheelhop. Ask me how I know

Re: Launching a stock M6 on DRs

Ok- I run at the drag strip consistantly-

I run a set of 305/40b16 M&H Racemaster wrinkle wall dot tires at 15 psi..

The stage 1 clutch i have in my car ( which is now shot b/c of to much power) - used to like about 3,000 RPM launches on the drag tires and 2600 on the street tires ( BF goodrich Ta KDWs) - and that pulled 2.14 60'fts- but the clutch was going bad so i'd end up spinning it pretty bad anyways- then 2 weeks ago it went " boom" and no more clutch..- I am installing a stage 3 Exedy 6 puck street/strip disk at the moment, as well as a CSR electric waterpump..- this should get the 60'fts down if it grabs well..

Things that would also help your traction would be - an aftermarket panhard bar, and a set of Lakewood Traction Action lift bars- set them at 4/5 deg. positive....- I'm also going to invest in a set of these..

a guy i run with has a lakewood p/h bar and those Lakewood TA LB's and he runs consistant 1.74 60'fts- but he also has a 3k stall...-

but a good setup none the less

Like I said though, I don't have a problem with traction, I just have a problem with it bogging.

Rev her up higher- My drag tires- w/ the slipping clutch bogged down below 2500 on launch- 2700rpm was the best launch for it.- with the stage 3 clutch im hoping for 3500 rpm launch...

People say if i get it to launch at much more than that im going to snap my rear end out..- i dunno.. but i'll give it a try..

Re: Launching a stock M6 on DRs

i just run today for my first time with MT Street Et DR's and i am pissed.. i am pretty worried about that rear end so i only ran on the line at 2500 RPM and when i dumped it, it would bog down to like 1800 and run like ****..so i was running like a 15.60 in the 1/4.tell me if i was embarrassed to get beat by a BMW 4 banger

Re: Launching a stock M6 on DRs

get a 12 bolt or 9", rev it to 5500, put the gas to the floor just before dumping the clutch.
~12 psi in bfg's. nitto's will waste your time.
