got a 93 Z28, qa1 shocks springs, BMR torque arm, saftey loop. For some reason it doesnt want to launch straght. The suspension place said it was alighned. I was wondering how i can get my 60 foot way down or how to adjust my adjustable torque arm. Wondering what will give me better traction. Thanks.
Re: launching
Are you using slicks or drag radials?
If you adjust your torque arm you'll wanna do it with the weight on all 4 tires and adjust for the proper pinion angle you want, I hadn't adjusted one but I figure its just like adjusting ladderbars. I'm sure someone will chime in about that.
Also when you mean not launching straight what exactly do you mean? How much is it moving? does it feel like its spinning?

Re: launching
im running mickeytompson 250.50.R16 street radial slicks. It pulls to the right as in the front viers off to the right a little bit. I just put my rear sway bar back on, and that helped a bit but its kinda off still. as far as the torque arm goes, ill make sure i adjust it when the cars on a lift. Thanks for the reply!
Re: launching
You don't have a lot of power mods and aren't going that fast either yet so nto sure why its not going straight. I did find some good lower control arms
seemed to help mine and it launches straight as an arrow. I have nittos too.And adjustable torque arm set to 2 degrees negative but might go up to 1.They said 2 for pretty modified cars and 1 for mildy modded. I think I am still in the later for another few weeks anyway until get my zex wet kit on the car.
I dont think the torque arm setting will affect how straight you go. I think front tire pressures may be important and too low rear may let the car start wandering too.Again with your mellow mods you shouldn't need to air down those et streets much at all I woudn't think. You didn't mention gears or stall.

Re: launching
The torque arm won't help you launch straight, but it may aid in 60ft times. What 80ta said about that is true, i'd suggest a 1 2 degree negative pinion angle also.
From what you said about the rear sway bar, it sounds like you maybe planting one tire a little more than the other. (does it do it everytime)? When the front end comes up, does it come up evenly or a little crooked? If you cant tell, what you can try is adjusting the rear shocks to compensate a little. If its pulling to the right, adjust the left rear shock so its a little stiffer. Or adjust the right side a little softer.... IF you are planting one tire more than the other this should correct the problem.
I'm just kind of shooting in the dark here,(don't know much bout your car) if its spinning some it still may do it. Of course you gotta make sure your wheel stays straight when you leave. and if its just moving just a little than you maynot want to worry bout it, just drive on through it.

Re: launching
Usually you don't heat tires up.. I read an article a long while back that said heat actually isn't good for street tires anyway. Anyhow, long story short the answer is no. Like what was already said most people go around the waterbox and then clean them off (drop hop) and roll on up to the line.. I went around the first couple times i took a street car to the track and noticed a bunch of crud in the areas I had to travel through to go around the water. So what I do is roll through the water, make sure your AHEAD of the water (concrete pad can be damp no standing water though) and then spin them over pretty good. Hadn't had any problems doing it that way so far
