Lightbulb How will street's surface change 1/4 mile times?

We all know what our cars run on a drag strip. But what about on the street?

How will street's surface change 1/4 mile times?

On the stree the car will smoke its tires instead of launching right off lifting the nose.

How effective DR's or Drag Slicks would be on the street?

Movie - Fast and Furious, when camaro raced supra on the street, camaro jumped right up going wheelies. Is it possible to have no tire spin or mild tire spin on the street with some good drag slicks?

All Hollywood. Don't believe anything you saw in F&F.

Streets are dirty. Dirt is bad for traction.

F&F makes racing cars look so f in dumb i cant even tell you. Everything they do in the movie as far as racing is so far fetched and Hollywood overplayed.
Especially what they do with n20. So so stupid.

Finds some freshly layed asphalt on a warm summer day. Not as good as a track surface but better than average.

Might want to let us know what kind of car you are talking about.... they made F-Bodys for 36 years, with engines ranging from anemic 4-banger to pavement pounding 427's.......

Actually in 1970, the 454 was offered in the F-body making it the biggest engine offered. This was the only year the 454 was available in the F-body.

Well I'm talking Z28 LS1 , but I think there really isn't much difference. This is more of a traction question. And I mean street not as dirty streets in the citys. Lets say a clean street surface vs drag strip sticky surface. How much time will that affect in 1/4 mile time vs drag strip ?

P.S. I know hollywood is crap, its evident. I just asked if that's possible not to have tire slippage with etc. , etc. conditions.

Sorry but you do not win this bonus round.
The 455 SD was offered in TAs for a few years.

I was thinking more of "power" than displacement.... 427 aluminum ZL-1 might be the king of the hill.

i dont have any scientific specifics but i can tell you that my car does not have a chance in 1 2 or 3 on street tires so i would say add about 5 seconds to my time

82-83 had a 2.5L Iron Duke option. The V6 probably got better fuel mileage.

What about if you put Drag Slicks on and try it on street? How many Lb/ft you running?
