Re: How much quicker?

a tenth in the 60' is about 1.5 in the 1/4, typically that is what we have seen.

Don't get your hopes up. Problem is, once you put sticky tires on the car, they are just that ... STICKY. When I put DR's on my car (just BFG DR's) my mph slowed down by about ~1 mph, and my times were actually the same, or a few hundredths SLOWER than with the street tires! Now granted, on that day at the track, conditions were perfect, and my tires were nearly brand new, so they were fairly soft and hooked really well.

In your case, with street tires that spin, you're losing maybe an extra ~tenth in the 60', but once you put DR's on the car, that will change things. Suddenly, your tires will hook hard, but then your motor will bog severely and won't have the power to pull you through 60' in much less than ~2.0 seconds. I had the same problem with my car EVEN WITH 4.10 gears!!

Realistically in your case, I'd expect (or hope for) ~1.9x 60' times, and ~13.2's +/-. But as well, conditions can really screw you over sometimes. I'm just saying this based on lots of experience with a pretty much "stock" LS1, just on different days and with different gears.

What gears do you have, btw? (2.73 or 3.23?)

I know there is more than a tenth in the 60' with sticky tires.

Re: How much quicker?

Realistically, with 2.73 gears, I would be expecting 1.9 sixty foot times with good tires on a good track in good air. Now if you do a decent 2800 stall and even some 3.42s or 3.73s you will be able to use the sticky tires to hook up well. At 104 you are around the 13.0 +/- mark depending on the day. If you are spinning you can't really quanity the results of any changes to the vehicle so tires would be a very good thing to do.

If he's already cutting ~2.0, that's pretty good for street tires and 2.73 gears. Slap on some sticky tires, 1.9's are probably realistic for that setup, but I wouldn't expect to see 1.8's. Not w/2.73's, not with a relatively stock LS1. Like I said earlier, even with 4.10 gears, my car bogged pretty bad off the line when I got good traction (no wheel spin whatsoever). By spinning the tires with 2.73's, at least it gets the engine revving up into the power band a little more. Hook the tires hard though, and the revs won't get up as quick, and I don't think the times will improve as much as you might think. JMO.

Re: How much quicker?

What was your 1/4 time & speed with that 60' then?? I'd like to think it would be better than a 13.4 @ 104??

Re: How much quicker?

if you cut a 1.88 60ft and only ran a 13.4 @104 something is wrong with you car. You need a tune up more then dr's.
