How much are my gears hurting me?
How much are my gears hurting me?
The mods are in the sig below. The car used to be an auto and have since swapped over to a m6. I have not been to the track yet with the setup but when the setup was with an a4 it went 13.40's@106. That was with the stock converter and the mods below. I have not sprayed the car yet but will in the very near future. She currently has 3.23's in her right now and feels strong doesnt really bog at all. Are the gears just going to hurt my 60' and 8th mile and then pick up hella mph after that?. Im not really concerend about the et but more or less what I trap. WHat do you guys think?
Look at it this way. If you can hook at the track or on the street for that matter, your stock rear end is not long for this world with an M6. Then when you upgrade to something stronger you can pick the gear of your choice.
Well, I'm in almost the same boat as well
.
Swapped to a T56 this summer, with 3.23's in the back (because I busted the 4.10's while they were still behind the A4!
).
Anyway, I went to the track, and ran a 13.40 @ 107.65 ... faster TRAP speed than ANY run with my car before, but ~.4 seconds SLOWER than when the car was A4 / 4.10's
. I've now got a set of 3.90's waiting to go in, and I hope they make up for the sluggish 3.23's.
Oh yeah, and my best 60' time was 2.152, which (ironically) is EXACTLY the same as when my car was still A4 / 2.73!
(and running 13.43). Whereas, with 4.10's, I could cut 1.9's all day long.
So it seems that 3.23's behind the M6 kill it like 2.73's kill the A4
