how to improve 1/4 times

I have a 95 Z28 auto with 2.73 gears, K&N CAI, and a Magnaflow muffler. I took it to the track and the best time i got was a 14.555 at 95.94mph and my 60' was 2.161. I powerbreaked it to about 1200. I live in northeast Ohio. It was cloudy and about 60 degrees. I had tire spin off the line but after that it was fine. I know stock that they should run 14.2. Have any suggestions. Ohh the car has 47k, got it from a dealer.

2 things come right to mind
1- get yourself some 3:73's
2- get yourself a set of et streets don't waste your time on street tires

Hmm, thats wierd I have almost the exact same car with the exact same mods only difference being I have 3:23's and I got a best of 13.9 with a similar 60'. I think it just goes to show the importance of gears.

Three primary ways to do it, plus driver practice:

1. Less weight (remove any items not required and or replace parts with light weight components)
2. More power (headers, cold air, engine internals)
3. More efficient application of power (torque converter, clutch, gears, suspension modifications).

Simple mods that least affect street driving that have good bang for the buck are the obvious ones like drag radials/ET Streets, headers, cold air, cat back, removing front sway bar, short throw shifters. Next step is often torque converter and gears and some PCM tuning to correct the speedo and/or shift points.
