Personally, I used the razor blade / windex method.

This spring, when the track re-opens, I'm going to put my numbers on before I go to the track. I had white vinyl cling film cut for my numbers.

Stick them on ... peel them off.

Than the numbers won't stick, just like Rain-X. As stated above, the Techs hate this.
