hotcam opinions??

OK, here's the deal. The LT1 is in my wife's 94 Impala and the times it's running has me a little concerned. Her mods are as follows:
Hotcam kit w/ 1.6 rr's, stg 1.5 alum heads, LT's, 2600 stall, 52mm TB, ported MAF, ported intake, 30# inj.
Granted the hot, 90* weather isn't helping any. But keep in mind, the car weighs in at 4200lbs plus her little 130lbs ***.
She hooks ok but does spin a little on the street tires. She can flash the TC at 2400 and still has the 3.08 gears. Like I said, the times have me a little concerned, but what about her mph.

Here ya go...
r/t .0299
60' 2.050
330' 5.929
594' 8.545
1/8th 9.12 @ 77.5mph

I've tried 6 different tunes from 2 well-known tuners and the best the car has turned is an 8.9 @ 78.xx

Gears and sticky tires are next after my finish my N2O kit on my 02 Z.

Whatchya'll think here???
Thanks in advance.

Re: hotcam opinions??

Yea that does sound a little slow, sounds like its running about what a stock fbody lt1 would run or maybe slightly quicker. I'm sure the weight has a lot to do with it, but still thats only maybe a high 13 timeslip or low 14 even. I would put it on a dyno and see what kind of hp it has and then try and maybe get it dyno tuned. Right now as my car sits it is running about 8.3 in the 1/8 at around 83-84 mph, of course my raceweight is probably 900 or so pounds less. I would say try and and put the car on a diet as well.

Re: hotcam opinions??

My car ran the time in the sig. I am full race weight. That was without a tune for the hotcam also. I am heading back to the track tommorrow to get some new 1/8th mile times. It does seem like her car should be running better. But do to the weight and the hot weather. What was the humidity that day? That can play a huge part in it. Also, ditch those 3.08 gears too and U should see a nice gain. Dont get too worried yet. Make some runs in some cooler weather. Peace, Dustin.
