Hooking with N2O and DRs?

Should I not expect to hook in second gear (M6) when the N2O kicks in?

I'm running stock LT1 engine with a self-tuned PCM, 4" CAI, 3" cutout, 35mm/25mm sway bars, solid LCAs with reloc. brackets set on the lowest setting, and Nitto 245/50/16 DRs, with a 100hp NX wet shot from 3000-5900 RPM.

So far I haven't taken it past 5000RPM or so. Too dangerous on regular streets.

But, my question is, is it right to expect to not break the tires loose when the N2O comes on in 2nd gear at 3000RPM? If I hit WOT at say 2500 and let it rev up to 3000 and then the spray kicks in, my tires always break loose for a second or two. Is it crazy to expect them to stick with my combo?

If it IS crazy, what should my next traction mod be? Torque arm?

Granted, this car is more road-racing oriented then drag-racing (albeit street mostly), but the more traction the better.

Thanks for any tips.

P.S. I love the spray.

You should be able to hook in 2nd with drag radials......I do and now my clutch is going fast so my next mod is a Street Twin.

I forgot to mention, I have a Street Twin too, so I'm getting no clutch slip at all. Maybe that's why the tires are breaking loose?

Any more ideas?

Yeah, apart from ET Streets, I'm thinking that Maximizer might be my only option.

I tried a 150 shot and now I have no traction in 2nd, it just goes sideways.

I'm sure the colder weather isn't helping any, though.

Thanks so far guys!

Are you cooking those nittos a good 4 or 5 secs before you run? You need to really heat them up. I dont know if your gonna be able hook in 2nd on a full 150 shot with nittos...

crazyjoe just tried out his NX wet kit (150 shot) last night. His car is an A4 and with a borrowed set of ET Streets his car had no problems with traction, spraying off the line. His first run he hit the rev limiter and on the second run he let off for a split second on the 2-3 shift...runs were a 7.75 and 7.69...1/8 mile.

I'd say ET Streets are the way to go...unless you see next to no track time.

Later...and good luck!

Yeah, I figured I'd hook with ETs no problem...

But, I was talking about on the street. I haven't been to the track with the n2o yet. Heck, I haven't been there in over a year--last time I went, I had a slipping clutch, bald rear tires and 19# injectors running super lean (long story).

If I do go to the track soon, I will heat them up good and see how I do.

Thanks for the thoughts, guys!

P.S. I think the weather does have a lot to do with it... now, even with the 100hp shot, I am breaking loose pretty badly in 2nd.
