Help me dip into the 12's
I have a 1967 Camaro SS with a 350 Small block engine. i have done nothing to the engine except for steel hoses and some junk to make it look better. Im running high 14's. i wanna hopefully get into the 12's. i am running 275\15\60 dunlop's. in the rear.
What should i do to hit my goal while keeping it daily driver and naturally aspired.
i just got a 10 bolt rear end with a posi and 4:56's . ( i know not very streetable but it was cheap )
any advice would help a lot. thanks.
and also. does a highrise intake manifold suffer the low end torque?

There are several ways to get into the 12s.
It will take heads and cams i believe and traction.
The first thing I would do is remove any thing on/in the car you can do without. the lighter the car the better.
Get some skinnies and then some fats with some good tires. Go to a well prepped track where traction is good.
suspension work on the 1st gens helps alot.
Good luck!

anything else i should do besides cam and heads? in wanna get right around the 500 horsepower mark. just enough so i can beat those damn ls1's and all those stupid lil imports with nitrous.
Retro fit hydraulic roller cam... nothing radical. As for an intake Performer RPM air gap. Carb in the 750 range. Which heads do you currently have? Dart maked some very affordable iron heads that flow very well out of the box. Or you can run some Chevy 492 castings... I had excellent results with them on my 406 SB I ran in my 88 MCSS combined with the Performer RPM intake.

I had a 68 camaro and making that kind of power is rather easy. I had a .030 small block with edelbrock rpm heads, retrofit roller cam .520/.545 lift, victor jr. intake. 650 holley and about a 2800 stall. Easy power. Buy you some cheap headers and let it fligh. I ran 12.8 on street tires with 3.55 rear end. Dont worry about weight because you already weigh less than the new 93-03 cars. With a bbc 468 mine weighed 2879. Even less with the small block. My only real advice is make sure all your parts are good quality and reinforced. Subframes and drive shaft loops etc. It will pay off in the end. I never ran my bbc but it kicked a lot of behind compared to the small block.
I am here for any questions!

it doesnt take alot to run fast with those old cars. as somone else stated, there lighter than later model cars. i have a friend that has a 67 restored with full interior. here is his set up- 350, dominator intake, holley 780 carb, stock double humper heads, basically stock cam- comp cam .468 in., hooker headers, 3in to flowmasters, 12 bolt posi w/ 4.11s, TH400 with a 2200 stall.
on 275/60-15 BFG TA radials he went a best of 13.07 @ 105 in 80+ degree weather. he recently put a sniper kit on and with the 150s in ran a best of 11.57 @ 117 on a QT pro.
his 350 is as close to "stock" as you can prolly get. with a mild port job on those heads and a 3500+stall he'd prolly run low12s high11s NA.
