600hp couldn't run 12's if you can't get the power to the ground.

Buy some new slicks and try again. Street tires or worn out slicks provide no traction. If all you're doing is spinning off the line then you have a traction problem and need some better tires.

Re: Help! I Suck Off The Line

your post says 3.73s and your sig says 3.23s. Either way you should pick up some dr's and try rolling out of the throttle instead of hammering it right off the start. Also try reving it at lower rpms too.

Get some drag radials and start practicing. It takes lots of practice... Not only do you need to hook up the car but you also need to cut a good light. It isn't so easy as most people think. Definitely get some drag radials.

Re: Help! I Suck Off The Line

sorry my fault, i only got 3.23's. Well if i wasn't such a newb, id know what drag radials are lol. i reallly dont know much about cars, only the basics. also, if anyone has any advice how to get the most bang for the buck on what to do next to my car comapred to what i have (add on a chip) not too sure, either better gears or y-pipe/headers. the tires aren't too worn, theres still a good deal of tread, i mean it is in new york and its cold out at night...if that makes any difference, but i raced a 2000 stock ls1 suprisingly i won but got it up the *** on off the line.

If you are on street tires then thats your problem right there. No one should power break it to 1300 and hammer on the gas and expect to get traction.

Now if you have slicks that might work. Also if you do have slicks that will be ALOT harder on your rear end and can possible break it.

Best bang for buck is iffie. Some might say a cut out over a stock exhaust system, or you can go with headers or gears.

Do some searchs

Re: Help! I Suck Off The Line

Anything that adds power/torque will make you traction problem even more difficult.

Headers with a "Y" pipe will help quite a bit. A cat back will make it sound good but won't do much for you in terms of performance. On your '93, headers will definitely help quite a bit plus give you better gas mileage.

Drag radials wioll help you hook up. Do your racing at the track. It is much safer that way.

Re: Help! I Suck Off The Line

well i am thinking about the SLP Y pipe, but i don't feel like throwing 1000 bucks on headers, i work for all of it. takes a long time, im just 17 so i can't afford it. i don't need like drag radials i don't race much never gone to the track. ive done it like a handful of times on highways against friends. but nothing besides gears or headers and the y pipe thats cheap? i got most of the minor stuff done thats y, don't feel like throwing all my money into a car

Re: Help! I Suck Off The Line

I Got my headers and y-pipe for 500 together pretty much. They are all used but still good. As long as your not building an engine for peak performance where every hp counts, i dont really see why not to go ahead and get used stuff. You save quite a bit of money and can resell it for about the same of you place on going back to stock later on.

ALTHOUGH it may be just 500 for the headers/ypipe your going to have to buy other things like gaskets, bolts, o2 sims and extensions which add up. And if you going to do headers you might as well go ahead and do spark plugs and wires.

Re: Help! I Suck Off The Line

well, i was thinking about getting the SLP y pipe, but im from NJ where only shorties are legal. I dont know where to find them, but the installation is such a pain tho. Maybe ill search on these forums for sum of them for used headers and y pipe. Besides ebay, is there anywhere else i can buy them for cheap?

Re: Help! I Suck Off The Line

I had Edelbrock 1 5/8 shorties on mine before I upgraded to a stroker. I didn't bother to get the coated or anything. they looled like *** in about a month but I had them for three years and then sold them to someone when I upgraded to long tubes. They worked great and I never had a problem with them. Installation did suck but it was very much worth the effort. The extra gas mileage more than paid for the headers over three years.
