hal/qa1 vs. kyb
hal/qa1 vs. kyb
Is it worth the extra money to get the 12 way adjustible hals over the much cheaper kyb? also if i go with the hal's should i use their springs or get a drag launch kit?
KYB AGX shocks wont go any softer than stock. Heavier yes - softer no... So for drag racing, the AGX's are basically garbage (at least on the front end). How do I know??? Justed replaced a set of AGX's with Qa1s and the Hal drag springs. Sorry, but there's just no comparision - the Hals are definetley worth the money
I'm running a non-adjustable shock in the back with cargo carrier springs and an airbag in the pass rear. But if you wanted to go adjustable on all 4 corners without ponying up for a full set of hals, you could use hals in the front and CE's in the back. You'd spend just a little more than AGXs all the way around, but you'd have a much better setup - IMO...
BTW, in the past, I didnt care for the extreme rake my car had with 28" rears and 25.7" front runners - I was able to adjust the height of the front end with the hals (no can do with the kybs) - looks much better now, plus I dont scrap the front air damn pulling out of my driveway anymore

buy the strange 10 way adjustable rear shocks....$60 a piece. I know a racer using those with double adjustable front struts and is pulling mid 1.30s 60 foots

they carry them and sponsor camaroz28.com i believe

I already have the CE 3 way rear shocks. just looking to do the fronts now. So i guess i will shell out the extra cash and get the hal's. should i use their springs or get a different set?
Go with the Hal drag springs - they are made to fit the qa1 shocks and work very well.
If I rememer correctly, if you dont use the hal springs you'll need to run some type of adapter to seat the bottom of the spring on the shock mounting point (which is right above the double adjuster)

It does float the front end a bit over dipps on the lightest settings, but I've driven it to work that way a few times now and it's no big deal... and I imagine I could adjust the shocks over to the stiff side and get a much more firm ride.
I guess different folks have different ideas as to what's streetable
