Talking Got a 12 second timeslip in the imp

I was at Houston Raceway Park friday night taking advantage of the cold air. I got 5 runs and 3 were good. My best sixty foot was a 1.699 on a 13.08 pass, then waited a while longer and ran a 12.971 @ 102.63 with a 1.709.

The scales weren't working, but I'd estimate that the car weighed about 4200# The car is a 96 impala SS with 158k miles. I've got a cold air intake, headers, cutouts, 2.5" exhaust with an X-pipe, Vigilante 3200 stall converter, 3.5" aluminum driveshaft, 4.10 gears, weld draglites all around with 275/60R15 BFG drag radials on the back. Stock 1.5 stamped rockers, stock valve springs, stock 191/196@.050 111lsa B-LT1 cam, stock heads, stock intake, and stock throttle body with an airfoil. The computer is a mail order PCM4Less OBD2 tune.

Just thought I'd share and brag a bit.

Damn! That's impressive for such a heavy car, with an otherwise "stock" engine. Beats my Z28!? Nice work.

Damn, that's pretty quick! If your Impala SS is that light green-ish color (sorry, don't know the name of it), that is one bad-a$$ ride and my favorite! Congrats dude!

Re: Got a 12 second timeslip in the imp

thankSS! I've spent the last 5 years trying to make it go fast. I started out running 15.50s @ under 90mph back in 2000. I figure that it's a good time to start to try making some REAL horsepower

Actually my car is black. The "light green" color is Dark Grey green metallic.

Black is still very ! The Burgundy is the only questionable color.

Wow, awesome times.

Does thie Impy have a taller overdrive than F-bodies? I can only imagine how much my car would scream on the highway with 4.10's and the A4.

Nope, same .70:1 4th gear in the 4L60E. It does kinda suck on the highway, especially with both the cutouts open like I've been driving for the past week. I run 27" BFG KDWS on stock wheels or 28" BFG DRs on draglites on the back. I run the DRs more than the KDWS' (unless I know it's gonna rain.)
