Well this season I went from being a pretty much a stock z28 to a low 13 second car. Right now my current mods are hooker lt, cai,flow master,cutout,. My best times so far with these mods are 13.37@104. If I get some 3.73 gears will I get into the 12's?, I already have 3.23's , i just wanna know if I have a chance to nic the 12 sec mark by the skin of my teeth?.

 

Maybe. Depending on weather and track conditions. I also think you will need some decent tires because it will be more difficult to hook up with the new gears.

 

I would say no also. I think you need a little more hp. 1.6 rockers, stall converter, skinnies, ET streets, and some good weather. I had a hard time breaking into the 12's from a former best of 13.18. It has been done by many bolt on cars.

 

Well I have et streets already and im just about ready to put in my 224-236 cam. I was just trying to see if a gear change would nic the 12's but from you guys experience im see its not possible. But im sure whn i get the cam in there i'll be there for sure right?.

 

My car has run a best of 13.3 at 104 with a 2.1 60' on stock manifolds. I think with a good 60' I coulda seen at least a 13.doh. That was earlier this year in Feb. so it was down right cold out. Mods were everything in the sig minus the lt's and y-pipe. So if you can't get a 12 you could get damn near close to one. I say go for it. If you can't get it, throw the cam in there and get it that way. By the way when is the cam going in? I got the same cam you do waiting to go in. Be sure to post up when you put it in and any #'s and times you are running.

 

Thanks for the reply, I'll be putting in the cam hopefully later on this month if money permits. right now im trying to solve my comp 987 spring situation right now. Found out that they wont go right in and i have to get the retainers machined a little bit to make them work on the stock heads. but after i get that solved Im going to have the cam put in then im goin to put in the s/c. Should be fun this year.
