Well i went to the track tonight.. from 11pm - 2 am.. 3 cars wrecked, took forever you clean up, only got 2 runs in..
And of course, 2 runs = 2 times i missed 3rd.
Sigh.. o well, i guess it just takes practice, this was my first time racing a manual..
1st = 14.7
2nd = 14.6
Little improvement, but terrible runs overall, i saw stock ls1 cars running low 13s easily
I need to practice, but there isn't much place to do it.. unless i want some big tickets.

You don't HAVE TO shift at ~6 grand to practise shifting quickly
. Don't worry about your times though ... if that's your first time at the track and first time with a manual, nothing to worry about
. Everybody bombs a few runs, especially when you're learning to launch and shift a manual. And hey, a ~mid-14 is still quicker than the average import!!
When I took my car to the track last month, I blew a couple 1-2 shifts (I know you're asking "how do you bomb the 1-2 shift?!
" ) but the 2nd gear synchro is SHOT
..... anyway, I ran a couple 14's and even one 16.75 or something like that, because the gear jammed so bad, I was just like F-it!! and cruised down the rest of the track!
I ended up running a 13.4 @ 107 for a best run though. Your SS has more in it too ... just need a little more practise and you'll get it

practice is good, but keep in mind, you can miss a shift at any given time. i see people with years experience in the same car miss a shift, its going to happen, oh well.... us A4 people will just rib you a little then if we beat you saying "i didnt miss my shift"

I bet it wasn't so much a matter of being a "natural" as of all the "sims" you had run beforehand
