First time at the track.

I went to the track friday night and ran pretty consistent 8.9's at 80mph with a 2.1 60'.

Does that seem about right for my mods. I was launching at about 1200-1500 rpm. With a quick burnout at 20 PSI on my 315/30/18 BFG DR's with heavy 18x10.5 Z06 wheels. I was running full race weight with a full tank of 92 octane. It was about 70º and 76% humidity at about 1000 feet and the BAR was at 29.5.

I was basically the fastest street car there, besides a supercharged, nitroused 5.0 foxbody. He said he was running 7.8's but when i raced him i beat him. He launched hard as hell but he must haved fubared 2nd cause i just walked him.

Some of my kills were an 05 Mustang, 03 Corba, 97 Corba, ?? supercharged Saleen, and a few modded srt-4s. Traction must have been a problem for the 03 Cobra and the Saleen cause they should have beat me.

My 1/8th times are in sig, along with mods. I guess thats about right, when you consider the weather and alt. I went to the track last week and was only running high 8.8s. I was kinda dissapointed since I fixed a knock prob and was expecting low 8.7s. That was until I noticed I kept beating the LS1s

That usally happens in the 1/8th mile race. things turn out a little different when you run them in a 1/4 mile. They turn on when the Lt1's turn off

Thats what I hear, but there are no 1/4 tracks around here, only 1/8th. I know it may be a different story on the top end. Next time I go I will have the 3000 stall in and drag radials...Hoping for 8.4s. You think thats reasonable or are 8.3s possible?

That's a big jump.... with the 3k stall and some sticky tires I see a 8.5x in your future.... Dont get your hopes up for much more.

If youre running 8.7's on 2.1X 60ft's, I don't see where 8.4's would be out of the question with some 1.8 short times. 8.3's may be pushing it a little, but I bet you'll get some 8.4s

Re: First time at the track.

thats what I was thinking...its all in the 60ft. Then again, I may have a cutout installed by then too, so hopefully that will help a little.

Re: First time at the track.

So next time i go to the track i plan on doing a few weight reduction mods and about 1/4 tank of gas. I plan on !spare&jack, !rear seat, !front swaybar and !windshield washer fluid. Anything else i should consider.

I hear that around 15-20psi in the DR's is where i should have it at the track. What type and how long of a burnout should i do. I useually drive around the waterbox, back into it enough to get my tires wet, then do a quick 5-7 sec burnout.

Should i launch off idle or should i launch as high as possible. I think i was launching at around 1200-1500 rpm last time i went. Any other tips or tricks are welcome.

Also i hear that removeing the front swaybar helps launches. If it does, how? I thought it just removed front end weight. Could someone please explain.
