First pass LT1 swap...dissapointed.

First run 14.07 @ 101.47mph with a 2.27 60'
Second run 13.76 @ 103.62mph with a 2.16 60'

Marginaly better 60 foot and better shifting is the difference there. Shifting at or right before 6300-6500

To say the least i am dissapointed. All of my runs were hot laped, which sucks but it was about to rain, so my engine was not able to cool at all for any runs. At the end of the second run i let off prob .5-.75 seconds before i finished . But regardless, i dont know if i would have done that much better. I beat a friend who runs 13.5's on the street solidly. What do you guys think is going on here? I think my tune has something left to be desired, and my hot air intake certainly doesnt help. (air filter is right behind radiator).

Tune and suspension work. Lose some weight out of it too.

What track/elevation/temp/etc.? Work on the 60'. Has it been tuned? I would think that you sould be trapping 108-110 or so. Something is a little off.

track is in ohio so elev is not a big deal, it was prob high 70's and humid, ihave a mail order tune. how much could my air filter be hurting me?

I know the 60 sucks, but my trap should still be higher.

If the rain would have held off a little longer im sure i could have improved on my time and mph. I was in the process of cool down when it started raining. I might have been able to get 104-105, but like was said, i think it should be a little higher than that. This combo should be putting down 320+ at the wheels and im running like im putting down 270.

LCA's and relocation brackets are coming.

Let me know if you need anything!

What tires are you running?

Also, when I had the HOT cam with LT4 H/I on a 355, I shifted it any where from 6k to 6500, it did not change so play with the shift points, no need to spin it more than you need to.

The tuning is going to help alot!! Plus traction!

Do not let temps be the only thing you look at when trying to figure out if the weather was good or not, humidity and baro pressure plays a huge role in how it runs. I like to find out what the DA was and then correct it down to sea level to do real comparison of track times.

Im running 245zr16's. The 60ft doesnt really affect the trap speed does it?

Im sure my driving has some to do with the low trap. im still getting used to the new pattern.

thanks for the tips.

Actually it does. If you spin your speed will be higher, you dead hook and usually MPH will go down.
So many factors go into the whole time slip.....

Something sounds wrong. With those mods I would expect you to be maybe 113 or so trap speed.I think you need to get that thing on a dyno and a laptop and see what is going wrong

you car should trap 108, 110 at least. Something is up? Get a dyno tune, it seems like you need it.

Next you need to let you car cool down. Its going to make a big difference. Atleast get a manual fan switch to help with temps. Who did the heads?

re route the intake, if you are sucking 150 degree air temps from the radiator, that could be 20+ hp . try that and a better tire

Regardless of the et, the trap should be there indicating the HP of the car.

New time:

2.226 60'
8.83 1/8
82.79 MPH
13.52 1/4
105.27 MPH

Thoughts? I let the motor cool before the run.

Yeah, my et i know can be a lot lower with good 60 and some sticky tires. im more concerned with my trap speed. I changed my shift point to roughly 6200. I believe my tach reads about 200 rpms high since my idle is set at 850 and my tach shows 1050. These tachs are notorious for that anyhow.
As for trap speed, i believe under its current conditions im getting all im gonna get out of it. Obviously a new intake routing ect will help out conisderably, 150 degree temps from the radiator isnt a recipe for power.
Next year i will try to get it on a dyno and have it tuned that way, maybe some sticky tires also.

As for the heads, they were sent out by my local machine shop to a guy that does all their head porting. I dont have any flow numbers, i wish i would have had them flowed.
