First night at the track

First off I really hate street leagal drags at Indianapolis Raceway Park because they don't prep the track and its a skating rink.
Best 60 I saw was a 1.8 Most were from a 2.0-2.5

14.1@100 with a 2.3 60... was my best. Could not hook on any run till past the 60

Last run I knew I was done went all out, nice smokey burn out and launched as hard as I could with out just smoking them when I hooked I waited till it shifted into second and nailed it and the car spun again hard and got pretty crooked and then fixed itself.

First run was a 14.3@ 100 2.53 60
Second was 14.2@100 2.46 60
Then third above

Crummy P235 street tires....
If the track would have hooked I know I would have ran at least a 13.9

Sounds like you had fun. Get some drag radials and see if that helps. Tracks don't do much prep on street nights because street tires just tear up the track.

Re: First night at the track

I understand about the street legal nights. They do the same thing here at Heartland Park. No prep at all. I was pulling anywhere between 2.3 and 2.5 60' times before I bought my ET Streets. The best I've pulled with them is a 2.0. I'm hoping I can pull maybe a little faster 60' times this year after install my new 3000 stall but I'll find out in a week when the track opens for the first time this year.

Re: First night at the track

Do you guys think with radials it will run at least a 13.9 with a preped track?

I know 100mph trap speed is good for a 13.9

Nobody ran good, the 10 sec cars that were there refused to race. There were cars running a 12.4 at 124mph..... I think a 124 is like high 11 second range.

I definatly think you could pull 13.9s with a 100mph trap speed.

I pulled a 14.1@97 mph off of a 2.5 short time at Carlsbad (terrible prep) you should easily be in the 13's with a 100 mph trap.

Doubt it! It would probably take a 2.0 to run 14.1@97mph. Go back and look at your slip.

Re: First night at the track

Well I feel better kowing its got 13's in it. It says something when your best run is AFTER the rear end kicks out and spinning pretty hard!

Sould be interesting when I get the sticky tires and go on a prep night. Even more interesting when I get the 150 shot hooked up.
Goal for this season is 12.9's on N20.
Ran into a few guys that ran a 13.8 at 98-99 with a great track (same track just prep work and sticky tires) and I know I would take them from a roll. We will have to wait and see!

don't worry, i trapped 103 and my best time was something rediculous like a 14.5

i got new street tires that are not terrible, so i might go next friday and give them a shot.

Re: First night at the track

I wish I could get my trap into the 3 digits, im still stuck at a consistant 14.2@97 w/2.1 60', went again today, I didnt get any faster with the long tubes...just doesnt make sense, oh, and my last run I ran an oddball 14.5@94 for reason on the same 60'

Re: First night at the track

Well I played with a buddy in his 99 T/A auto, stall, 4.10's, radials, and exhaust and he took me by a car and held. Suprised him pretty good LOL.

Whats funny is that last year everyone and there brother wanted to race me, now nobody does when they see a near stock LT1 running with moded LS1 cars...

Krispy, get a PCM tune, it helped me out a bunch.
I am still on the stock y-pipe and manifolds also
