Draglite / Bear brake compatability

I need to get a set of Weld Draglites and am debating between the basic draglite and the XP draglite. I have borrowed a set of basic draglites from a buddy of mine and I've already ground down the fins on the brake caliper to make them fit.

I am trying to look down the road as eventually I want to upgrade my brake system with bear brakes (front and rear) and only want to buy one set of draglites.

Does anyone run Bear brakes and run regular draglites or do you have to run the XP's?

What are the differences between the two styles?

Thanks,
Marc

What size baer brakes are you wanting? (caliper and rotor) There is imo only going to be one choice for the front's and that is the drag style baer fronts which are about like the LS1 brakes. IF you are wanting the alcon caliper setup ones then not going to happen with baers on the front. I just wanted skinnies on the front at times and could not do it with the baers so off they came. You could possibly get a set of front and rear brakes for drag racing and then swap when you swap your wheels (its just bleeding the brakes and 8 bolts to do it so fairly easy.

The only Baer's you will be able to use in the front is the Track Kit with the 12" rotors...your best bet would be the LS1 upgrade as Steven mentioned. With my 14.25 rotors I can't even use my spare anymore....as for rear, Baer only make the stock replacement for the LT1's...therefore you will have no problem running 15's on there providing you shaved the calipers.

I haven't really looked into getting brakes yet (so I am not sure of what options there are), this is a way off in my grand plans. I just know at some point I want to upgrade the brakes.

I was actually more concerned about the rears as I'm only buying rear wheels / tires at this time as I'll continue to borrow by friends skinnies.

Going with Hoosier QTP's for tires

How are the C5 guys running skinnies up front, since their brakes are 13"?? I've seen skinnies on more than one C5, so I know it's possible.

Most are using CC wheels. They sell a big brake front wheel setup (forgot about them) they use either 16 or 17" wheels and classic replica race tires (for the old cars that have skinny tires but are in racing still. The wheels are about 300 a pop last i checked.

Complete custom wheels
