Drag Slick Compound

I'm getting ready to buy some new drag slicks and I notice that they're available with either M5 or L4 compound. L4 is apparently softer and "recommended for drag use", the M5 is listed as for "General Use". Anyone with experience be able to recommend one or the other.

It would really help to know what brand and model of tire that you are talking about.

Re: Drag Slick Compound

The L4 is extremely soft and is intended for use on "dragsters, lightweight vehicles and vehicles without rear suspension." IOW, get the M5.

Re: Drag Slick Compound

I don't get a choice in tire compounds. I buy my slicks by size. The specific size I want only comes with one choice of compound.

Re: Drag Slick Compound

I have noticed a few people having good results with the stiff side wall tires on manuals even though everyone says a bias will perform better than a radial on a M6 because of sidewall flex..
99% of people use the m5
