Drag racing with a 4 speed automatic......

this coming march 26th is a test and tune day at my nearby drag strip. i have never drag raced in my life but have always wanted to. im going to test and tune because i need to see what i feel compfertable with. either leaving it in drive and punching it at green or start at first and shift up. im gonna be racing at high school drags on may 6th.

Please leave your tips and suggestions....it will greatly help. they do braket racing so i guess i have to maintain the same time. the track is called Pacific Raceway if anyone is curious. Thanks for any help!

Put it in 3rd and let the computer shift.

You will either shift too early(slows you down) or shift too late(really slows you down when you bounce off the limiter)

Do you have an after market stall converter?

Do you have Drag Radials? or after market suspension?

I have an after market torque arm,3600 stall and a 12 bolt with 3.73's along with drag springs up front and 275/40/17 DR's out back.

I usually foot brake to 2500 to load up the chassis then mat it on the last yellow.

This technique will not work on a stock car or street tires.

He didn't say that. He said his method only works with the same modifications he has, not with a stock car. hahah

Nothing wrong with racing your car when its stock.

You just need to modulate the throttle to prevent wheel spin.

Mine went 13.6 at 104.5 mph when I bought it 6 years ago it was stone stock full weight on a 1.97 60ft. and 120,000 miles.

Got an SLP lid did the free mods and took out the rear seats and belts, spare tire and jack and went 13.3 at 106mph.

Did a set of OBX headers and LS6 intake and added some DR's and went 12.7.

Added the used 3600 Stall FTI converter and went 12.3

Did a 12 bolt with 3.73's and went 12.22 with 133,000 miles.
