Drag Race my car...Please!
Well, not actually. But here is my dilemma.
Last year, I went to Infineon (a.k.a Sears Point Raceway). My numbers are as follows:
R/T .290
60' 2.224
330' 5.745
1/8 8.617 @ 85.24
1000' 11.061
1/4 13.107 @110.87
I am a totally lame driver, I do not power shift and I had a pretty old/bald set of Bridgestone street radials. My dyno is over 415RWHP/445#TQ.
Also, this is a 1996 Z28/SS with a Bilstein L2 suspension set up for street, not strip.
If I had good Drag Radials and actually drove it like I stole it, would this car be into the 12s?

Re: Drag Race my car...Please!
My stock LS1 cut a 13.02 (@ 107) so if you're running 110 mph trap speed (granny shifting, and on street tires), and with that much more HP than a stock LS1 has, then you should be running at least a mid-12, I'd guess? I think you should be pulling more like ~115 to ~120 mph too?? I know that Z06's (with the 405 HP LS6) are putting down somewhere around ~360 RWHP stock, and they run low 12's around ~115 - 118 mph. I'd like to think with the extra power you've got, there's a lot more potential, that you haven't even come close to hitting yet.

Crap, I didn't really focus on your 60' before...........you should be cutting a sub 2-second 60' for sure!!! Making serious power, and with traction, you should cut nearly 1/2 second off that 60' alone!! Then, factor in the "rule of thumb" that every 1 tenth in the 60' is 2 tenths in the 1/4 mile, you should take your 13.1 down to about a ~12.1.

Re: Drag Race my car...Please!
Buddies ls1 with almost identical power runs low 12s at around 115 or 118 forget. Also that was with a 2.0 60ft I believe it was on nitto drag radials.
Your mph seems way low for that power level.
Are you at real high altitude? Our track is 1900 feet above sea level.
Buddies car was dynoed on dynojet. Something is not making sense with your times unless you are at very high altitude or I would look for something else wrong with your car.

Re: Drag Race my car...Please!
here is a run I made last night with an ET that is pretty close to yours.
60' 1.699
330' track wasn't showing this
1/8 8.252 @ 81.64
1000' 10.870
1/4 13.083 @101.67
The ET is .024 quicker than yours with a lot lower MPH. The car weighs a lot more and has a lot less power (96 impala with stock iron heads and stock 191/196 cam.) Like everybody has been saying, it's all in the 60ft Oh yeah, 2 passes later the weather got better, and I ran a 12.97 @ 102.6 with a 1.709 sixty, so 12s are very possible.

Re: Drag Race my car...Please!
Ulra dog, where are you shifting at and where did the power peak at? My car makes 360 rwhp and I could barely get 109 out of it the first time to the track. Went back shifting 500 rpms higher and its gone 4 mph faster. Torque number makes me think its a stroker motor, but with so many cam profiles, theres no telling where it peaked at. If it peaked at 6000 or higher, I'd shift at 7000 on the stock tach. My car peaked at 5800 and I shift at 6400 at least. Im gonna try and shift even higher once I get a new rear under it.

Re: Drag Race my car...Please!
With that much rwhp you should be in the 11s. What is done to the motor? I made 65rwhp less than you and ran over a second quicker and 2.5mph faster. The tranny shifts at 6550rpm. I am guessing you should be shifting at least there, if not higher depending on the motor. Get some M/T ET Streets or the M/T drag radials, a 12 bolt/9" rearend, and you should be cutting 1.6-1.5 60' times and be well in the 11s

Re: Drag Race my car...Please!
Thanks for all the replies. I need to answer some of your questions about my car and circumstance.
I have a 96-M6 with a ATI Procharged 383 and a very, very mild 304 cam and 3.73:1 diff.
Due to the cam, it will come up on power very quick, essentially blowing the tires off at any RPM in 1st and 2nd, therefore my 60' times really sucko with street radials. Again, I am totally lame and drive like an old grandpa (I am 50 too, so the 'ol reflexes arent' as crisp as you young whipper-snappers!).
The torque curve is very strong in the mid range and when the cam starts to run out, the SC is in full bloom and pushing it further. I shift at about 6,000 or sooner due to some spark blowout, so I don't see much effort in pushing a wheezing engine into the strastophere of RPM, when I would just as soon shift. What you see in trap speed is the result of about 4500 RPM in 4th, but, again, my ET and 60' sucks big time. The car also has zero upgrades for strip, and since it has Bilstein L2 suspension, is actually detrimental to Drag racing.
My technique is to pull up onto the lights holding the parking brake and raise the throttle to about 1800-2000 RPM. I start to release the clutch a little off the floor and lower the brake during the countdown of light go. All of that screws up my launch and as soon as I launch, its waay too much throttle for the tires and then I fry them until I think 1st is history, then hit 2nd, again burning away unintentionally until RPM and speed synchronize, then hit 3rd, then 4th before the end of the 1/4. No powershifting. Overall, I know I am wasting time at the gate (see lousy 60' and reaction times) and probably need to hold RPM higher in the right gear (2nd and 3rd), but my spark problem is another issue.
Thanks for info. Looks like DRs might help.
