Rob, Hedman makes/made a 1 7/8" header for the 4th gens. To the best of my knowledge it requires the removal of the heater box tho (which I think you have already done). A little modification is required with them from what i hear....a friend of mine has a set on his car. Definatly not a "bolt in" type deal, but they work very well.

Rob,
These might be more expensive than what you're looking for......

http://www.lemonsheaders.com

They're $850 a set. (uncoated) You can get any tubing size you want, including step headers. They will recommend a configuration based on engine information. They also offer them in different port configurations....... stock, raised runner, 18 degree, etc. They're building mine, as I found them to be less expensive than having a custom set made to fit my car. I have pics of a set installed. Shoot me an e-mail if you'd like to see them.

Dynatech also makes a 1-7/8" primary header.

Maybe I'm missing something, but whats the difference between an Gen1 and Gen2 Small Block when it comes to the exhaust port configuration?

Mine are 1 7/8"-2" Steps w/ 3.5" Collectors. Cost $850 from Pete Z. Lemons didn't have their 4th Gen SBC headers available when I got mine, or else I probably would've gone that route.

Also Dynatech's headers are 1 3/4" - 1 7/8" Steps, and unless something has changed they haven't made the LT1 Headers available in that configuration, only for LS1 cars.

g'luck Rob!
