dissapointing times

only got two runs first time at the track with the new t/a... 1 run was dissapointing and the second i screwed up royally cause i was still staging (in reverse) when the light turned

these are the results... should i expect more from my basically stock car... or what? humidity was low maybe 40% temp was around 70 track was actually fairly tacky braked it up to 1,400 rpm and hardly spun

1st run ever:

r/t .093
60' 2.149
330 5.865
1/8 8.852 @ 83.11
1000 11.428
1/4 13.620 @ 102.84

2nd run screw up:

r/t .555
60' 2.227
330 5.948
1/8 8.944 @ 82.81
1000 11.525
1/4 13.720 @ 102.79

You didn't do too bad. Atleast you didn't run a 13.3@84 mph like I just did. Car wouldn't shift into third so I let off before the 1/8 and coasted the rest of the way down the track.

0.093 sec r/t in the first run? I think it should have caused a red light.

Re: dissapointing times

red light?? why? i whole idea is to go just before green so you get the lowest reaction possible... a guy got a perfect 0.000 r/t while i was there 1 thousanth earlier, would have been a red light.

i was hopin for no more than a 13.4 =[

Re: dissapointing times

Your times will be just fine as soon as your 60' time gets down to a 2.0 which is more then possible with halfway decent track prep. You'll be around 13.4 @ 103 I'm guessing which is more then acceptable for a 2002 A4 WS6. Get a stall and drag radials and you'll be 12's all day long.

Re: dissapointing times

offhand would anyone know if a stall, install ( ) in an ls1 would be any different from the one i did with my lt1? also... say i got some et streets and a stall whats the lowest stall i could run to expect a 12.9x? i really don't wanna go with an extreme setup with this car so anything over 3000 can't happen.

also... with the 2800-3000 stall and et streets setup, how does the rearend in these ls1's hold up?

Re: dissapointing times

Why are stalls above 3000 not acceptable? I just had a 3200 installed on my car. Streetable as can be. Be even more streetable once the 3.73s get put in.

Re: dissapointing times

car has to remain what i'll refer to as "reversibly modified" for resale in a matter of months... gears aren't worth it to me i redid the whole rear on the lt1 and kept the 2:73's.... ok... maybe that was a f up... but 3:23's are sufficient

as for a stall... i just don't like running a street car that gets 500 miles a week put on it sometimes... with a 3000+ stall

2800 nice.... 3000 probably what i'd settle for

long as there are no hang ups... (which there usually are) and the install is the same as my formula... i can do a stall install myself in about 5 good paced hours

to be honest... high 12's is all im looking for out of this car... if i can get mid/high 12's out of a stall, tranny cooler, et streets, exhaust and intake.... more da better

but thats probably as far as im gonna bring it.... MAYBE headers IF i end up changing my plans on selling the car AS SOON as im planning on it.... longest of the longest, im not gonna have this car more than 7 months.... duty calls
=[

Re: dissapointing times

The TCI 3000 has been reported as being extremly steetable with gains of .5 in the 1/4. Plus the converter is only $450 or so brand new. You'll see some 12.7's I'd bet with a good set of drag radials and the basic bolt-ons. Torque converter installs should be pretty much the same from car to car I would think.

Good Luck

i don't see what you're upset about. for an a4 with 2.73's that's a damn good time, especially with flowmasters on there. get a cutout and you'll probably notice a good improvement

edit: nevermind this is for your new car. yeah those times kinda suck j/k man it's all good

Re: dissapointing times

tulsa raceway park...

dropped the y-pipe and got in 5 more runs the following weekend... better on each run... bested with a 13.33 at 104.78... in 80+ degree weather now i got some 11.5" et streets and the temps prob gonna be 15-20 degrees lower this weekend... cross your fingers for me for a 12.999!!

Jared

edit: another thing... ya think its actually worth it to take out my spare tires and jack and keep the gas tank low? whats that good for? a whole 10th??? if it'll shave a 10th i'll do it.... but im not gonna bother for a few hundreths
