Disappointed at the track

I went to the local 1/8th mile track Friday night. I am rather upset. The car feels VERY potent on the street. Had its fair share of street "kills" etc. So here are the numbers....

60ft - 2.4729
1/8th ET - 9.6390
MPH - 78.23

Now I realize the 60ft time leaves a LOT to be desired! I really thought it should go low 9's anyway. All stock except the mods in sig.... Thoughts???

You should do at least low 9s if you could hook. I could muster 8.7s when my car was auto and stock except CAI and exhaust.

4.56 gears?? Are you on street tires?? If so I don't think you will ever be able to hook.

+1 on seat time.

Those gears are going to be tricky to launch. Also street races are never a good judge of performance.

Good luck

I figured in the 1/8 mile I could ***** foot the launch and go like hell the rest of the way. Nope. Even worse 60' and slower ET. I did get 1.5 MPH better. I wouldnt have done the 4.56 gears but they were in it, so am not changing them. (Unless they break).

I am not new by any means to these cars. This is my 5th LT1 Fbody. I know how to drive them.....I just cant "Drag Launch".

hmm where in PA are you? they were not saying you couldn't drive on the street, the resposes were in reference to your launch... I have had 2 95 formula's a 6spd and this A4, I had the 6spd car for years, since late 1996 I got it as a lease return with only 10K miles. this one is the same, got it cheap a little used with very low miles, and both cars I racked up hundreds of thousands of miles on over the years, but I have been racing for years as well, and still feel I need a lot more practice at it so don't think anyone is busting on your driving skills...

tires, suspension, your loosing half a second in the 60'
that would give you low 9s

I plan to do subframe's but they arent really a "launch" item are they? Adjustable torque arm? Panhard Bar? I never got to modding the supension on the other cars ive had. What would be your top 3 suspension mods?

Put some drag radials on the car first. You could do all the suspension mods you want but its not gonna hook up on regular street tires with 4.56 gears.

Nevermind the drag radials, you need slicks with a 4.56 gear and a stick. If they survive, then get some good rear shocks, loosen up the front end, and do the basics.

sfc, lca, sticky tires. MT Dr's or slicks in your case. You need something really sticky.

Yeah, and if you go this route, start saving up for a new rear end.

As said above, LCA's with relocation brackets, a great adjustable torque-arm, shocks and a rear-end to handle the slicks. That has produced 8.3x from my manifold wearing stock motor.

P.S. A bullet muffler
