Could I break 13s?

Well I'm trying to get down to those 12.90s. Bone stock I ran 14.09@99 mph 2.16 60' on BFG G-Force KDWS 245/50/16s.
When I put my Borla on I ran 13.804@102.7 with just the cat-back, CAI, Drag Radials, and LCAs. When I did the TB bypass. my best trap rose to 103.7mph with those mods.

Now I'm ready to go with Jet-Hot LTs, Hooker Aero-Chamber cat-back, ORP, and BMR SFCs. If I manage to bring down my 60' to 1.9xx or better, could I hit 12.90 or will I need 1.6 RRs?

This always just w wild guessing game, but I don't think so... When my car was lightly modded 100mph translated to 13.6's, and it was a six speed too. 102 is close, and if you pick up another couple of mph you may be hitting a high 12 is good weather, but I think you need some practice with the shift points.

Shifting has a lot to do with ET. I'm not saying you are a bad driver, just that there are extremely few drivers good enough to truly get the most out of a manual transmission at a drag strip.

I have a friend of mine who hits 11's regularly in a Z06 with just a shifter and drag radials. He is one of those rare guys. I have yet to see anyone else break out of the 12's in a Z06 in basically stock trim.

So practice and work on power shifting. You may still need gears to get you over the hump even if you turn into Ronnie SOx overnight.

Thanks for the input. I know I'd have to get extremely good to do it. I think I'll trap around 106.xx with the Longtubes on maybe higher in good weather. I'm not putting gears in my crap stock rear when I'm getting a 12-bolt in the spring so I wouldnt have the use of gears just yet. I'll just do the best I can then and go as deep as I can in the 13s, I'm a good driver now but not that good. Thanks again for your advice.

its very possible. with these mods

SLP CAI
Air Foil
March Underdrive pulley
Elec WP
MSD Dig 6
Hooker LT's w/true duals

I managed 13.04@106. Sixty foot was 1.90 (IIRC) This was with BONE STOCK suspension (front sway bar removed) I was running skinnies up front and 27in Hoosiers in the rear. These tires were too tall for the stock 3.42 gear. The car wasnt launching very hard. Weather was fairly warm (temps in the 80's with some humidity) Car kept getting faster as the night went on and temps dropped. I think one more pass and I would have grabbed a 12.9x I think I def would have gotten there easier with some 26'' tires. never went back to the track with this setup. this was in a convertible too. Some weight savings but still heavier then a coupe. i was power shifting the hell out of it.

Sounds like a good setup. I'm sure I'll be trapping a little higher than 106 as is but may disconnect my y-pipe to get that trap a little higher if need be. Sounds like if I bring my 60' down to your 1.9 range I can get there. Thanks a lot for the example, maybe I can get into the 12s after all.

With good weather and a good 60' it's possible.

Best I got out of my '96 was a 12.97@107. That was with: SLP CAI, Hooker LTs, ORY, Borla catback, BMR LCAs, Weld Pro Stars and Nitto DRs. My 60' on that run was a 1.93.

My buddy who bought my '96 has since gotten it down to a 12.6x@110. All he did swap the Delco plat's for TR55s, removed the back and passenger seats and cut a little better 60'...a high 1.8.

Like I said, it's possible with those mods but weather will make a huge difference.

With those mods you should be able to get 12.9's. This past tuesday i went 13.03 @ 103.7 with a 1.86 60'. If i could have gotten that 60' just a little lower i would have had a 12.9x. You've got the same mph i do so i'm saying yes you will do it.

Thats good to hear and a nice time you ran. I'm expecting to trap 106 mph+ with my longtubes so I'm thinking that I can get by with a 1.9x 60'. I really want to do it so thanks for the encouragement.
