Check your helmets guys!!

If you have a Snell 95 I believe you'll need to invest in a new helmet for 2007

I'm pretty sure your right. I need a new helmet anyway. There are alot of sa2000 and M2000 helmets on sale now but your much better off buying one with a 2005 rating so it will last more than 3 years.

I will be buying a new helmet along with new belts when I get my car track ready later this winter...or maybe spring

You are correct! The 2007 NHRA rule book, page 236, rule 10:7 states Snell 95 is expired.

Snell M2005 are starting to trickle into the bike shops. Some have them, others don't yet. It's hard to believe I've been racing long enough to need a new helmet. I bought mine at the end of 1996.

I haven't seen the new IHRA rule book yet but they normally follow the same requirements as NHRA.

Your 20 year old helmet belongs on Ebay. Your 10 year old race helmet needs to be replaced if you want to go to a sanctioned track but it could still be used for a motorcycle. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with my old helmet. I already have 4 bike helmets.

Where on the helmet is the exact snell rating found?
I have a ShoeiRF700 motorcycle helmet manufactured in 2002. It has "snell approved" printed on the outer shell on the back. Would be nice if it's legal to use, I paid $400 for it (nice paintjob) and I don't ride anymore. If I sell it on Ebay I probably won't get enough to buy a new one.

An approved Snell helmet will have a Snell decal somewhere on the inside under the liner. Your 2002 helmet, if it's Snell approved, should have a M2000 rating. Good for at least 5 more years.
