Cam Only

In the 'Cam Only' race, what is allowed? Can the short block be rebuilt? it is just stock heads? can the heads be milled or have a valve job?

I think the current cam only ET is around 11.2s, if I go for this 'record' too, just want to know the 'rules'.

I am currently "done" with the bolt on thing due to motor being toasted now.

Don't know about the LT1 world but in the LS1 arena it's totally stock motor, bone stock heads, cam and necessary valve train work to support the cam, and all the boltons.
If you rebuilt the short block and only used stock parts you'd be ok. But if you built the short block for higher revs or used higher comp pistons it's not fair to the guys that set the record with a stock long block. And milled heads would definitely be out as that also raises the CR.

Didn't know you blew it, that sucks but you had a great run with the last record.

Re: Cam Only

Cam only IMO is a cam upgrade in a stock motor. Once you go 355 etc... it's a new ball game. As for what stock LT1 heads, 355 (stock crank), can do just look at the Super Stockers... low 10's. Granted monster cams.
As for a true cam only LT1 Frank Benoit is the man to beat. Mid or low 11's I think.

What Steve said, If you rebuilt it exactly how it came from GM albeit the cam and suporting valve train, thats cam only. You so much as look at the heads funny, aint cam only any more. Heads gotta be dead stock, new parts are fine so long as its just the way it would be on a stock car.
